Howdy all. This is my first year playing lax, Im playing D pole on a relatively new team(this is the 2 or 3rd season, cant remember exactly). I'm wondering how I should divide the time I have to practice, eg, how long to spend at a wall compared to running or weightlifting or cradling, etc.

Skillwise, I know pretty much nothing. Physically, I'm in pretty good shape, and i'll get better with off-season track starting in 3 weeks. My endurance could use some improvement though, I think im just over a 6 min mile, but again with track starting I should bring that down again(ran a 5:58 mile and 12:48 2 mile last january). So with that in mind, how much time should I devote to:

-cardio conditioning
-weightlifting
-stickwork/wallball
-anything else you think would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Combine your track experience with lacrosse...run with your dpole and a ball. The more you've got the ball in your stick, the better...especially while running.

First would probably be wallball cause cardio you have a couple months until pre-preseason if you want to do your own running. And your gonna be lacking behind in expierence and skill so lots of wallball would be the way to go. Next might be weightlifting cause you cant get away with being weak on defense and it takes time to get strong. But you can get away with being in not the greatest shape, but then again conditioning is important too...
And if you could get into fall/winter leagues that would give you expierence, also playing with your friends.

i think it should go stickwork/wall ball then footwork, then weights and then cardio, your stick skills are mandatory even if you play D and it wouldnt hurt if you could play with both hands either and ground balls

I would say mostly stickwork/wallball and weight lifting. Stick skills are most important and you should practice them the most, weight lifting is good but you should only do that every other day anyway. Dont worry about conditioning because you are doing track. Dont forget to practice ground balls too

if youve never played before i would say focus 100% on stick skills... theres no point in focusing on running if you cant hold the ball focus on the lacrosse aspect of lacrosse not the weight room stuff
