So lets put our Coaching Hats on and make some suggestable decisions of which players would be good else where???

Or will fill the gaps that may be missing to put that team to the next level?

Or Senior Players that could possibly help out a developing team?

There may be a Gun div 1 or U/17 player who would be a perfect fit into a State League Team???

Don't know which surrey D you've been watching, Greg Moore (senior assie team 1998) Correy Williams, Andrew Ham, Matt Tease all very good longpoles. Not to mention very young with the last 3. Then backed up by Tillo.

If you look at the ladder for the year Surrey's D had the least amount of goals scored against them out of all the state league teams. The area that let them down at the end of the season was the offencsive end.

Give us Chris Plumb and you can have Henderson.

Thats all well and fine....to have the least amount of goals scored them in a season where the best players in the country went to the World Champs and many of their team mates as supporters were missing from their respective teams for over a month.....Luckily though Surrey cashed in on this during the season by basically remaining for full strength during this period...but when these players returned to there clubs Surrey crashed out of the Finals race immediately again!!

I think there may be an exodus of sorts from Willy next year. Not a disgruntled one just a few unfortunate coincidence's.

Newman is being looked at (after one season of Footy) by Williamstown VFL (Collinwood Reserves) and Port Melbourne. Ryan is going to England as is Mike Sevoir.

A few others may have some time off too. But that is speculation on my behalf.

Looks like i'm gonna have to play midfield in SL! :chuckle:

yeah MCC is great.....and lets face it, only lucky teams win 3 in a row. Eltham were terrible in shutting down roughy....how many did he have in the final anyway? and JB was a power of experience on attack for willy.....he must have had a bag full....Willy were definitely the better team, just like last year, and the year before. With the lack of juniors at Eltham this year (from 15's down) Eltham could be in a similar state to some of the lesser clubs in 10 to 15 years time. I hope it doesn't happen but if your junior program doesn't pick up it just might.

Eltham started in SL in 1989 (i think) and in in 17 years in SL Eltham has been in the SL finals 11 times, 8 GF's and won 3. That's a better record than many clubs have had in finals their whole history.....

And then some clown talks about teams being good who haven't made the finals in years, or who can't even win a game when they get there.....

Give me break....earn something, or get a brain....then i will settle down....

swanky banister looks like cutter has hit a nerve. As an outsider who watches the game, the thing that has set eltham and willy apart from all other teams is that surry and the others just arnt hard enough, when the crunch comes, they run sacred and hide.

Should be an interesting year next year, all teams will be full strength for the entire year. We will see who is the best. If Eltham win four in a row, they must go down as one of the great teams. If Willy win they will have re-emerged as a super-power. I think MCC will beat surry, who are geniuely soft and Camberwell who lack depth.
Does any one know if Rocket from camberwell will play again. AS for DIV 1 does anyone really care.

I agree Laxorgy Surrey are soft and not something that will be fixed in the short term.
There are a couple of U/17's and maybe another in U/15s this year that don't mind being hit so hopefuly in a few years they will have a team that will stand up when the s#*t hits the fan.

They will need to get a lot more depth before they have and team that can challenge for the SL flag. They do have some very good young players though and hopefully they can make the jump to SL soon.

Angus Cameron has said that they intend to nominate for S/L in 2008 and I think they would match up quite well against some of the lower ranked teams.

OldDman, they can't have Corey he is the only large defender we have left at Surrey, take one of the small defenders. Oh yeh we'll have anyone that is over 6' and can hold a stick. :)

Yeh Cutter I'm hoping that it is just a faze that we have gone through where the best talent is the hieght challenges players. I think I might drive to Eltham and brinig some water back for the kids to drink.

Saw a few of the Moreland boys out on Saturday night and after speaking to Rhiann they are definitely thinking that they are going to SL.

good news, no doubt

The PLPA 7 year CBA with the NLL would have been great news if they had done it on time. I cancelled all my arrangements with work, property, business etc when they cancelled the season. So even though I got drafted, I can't go this year - but they have assured me that next year is good to go. They gave me a nice write up though! :-)
