all defense sticks should be 60" inches and practice footwork, and work on using both your right and left hand when you catch around

check this:

i forget off the top of my head what the length is but it is something like 72 inches. Get a d shaft which is 60 inches and a stiff head like a bionic, revo pro, proton etc.

Work on footwork, positioning, checks(poke, slap, lift) and field vision and this thread will most likely get closed. good luck

The combined stick length [head and shaft] for a defensive player must be between 52" and 72". Now D shafts come stock 60" which would put you at 70-72" right when you put a head on which is what most Defensemen use. Some d-men cut down their shaft because of various reasons, but mainly because of their size, and skill level.

At 6'1" you should be able to handle a full 70-72" stick easily... But try it out and if you want an inch or two off then thats completely up to you. The great thing about lacrosse is its a sport of preference, what someone else may swear by, you might hate... Its all up to you man... Just remember though, once you cut off anything you can't go back, so only do that if your sure thats what you want.

you seem like a big guy like me. If your little on the heavy side (im like 250-240), body postion is key also don't be afriad to level some kids ;)
