Wouldn't be surprised. Quite a few scho0ls on all levels get stuff from Nike. Maybe Hop had a deal with another company prior to this and is now going to use Nike. IDK.

This would also tie into the fact that Nike is looking to new rising sports, like lacrosse, to get involved and make money. So really not surprising from a corporation like Nike.

I don't doubt it but I wouldn't count on it being from support from the final 4 hopkins was right down the street from the arena and cuse fans easily outnumberd the hopkins fans I feel that mite b the reason hopkins lost, it jus seemed like there were so many more cuse fans in attendance than hopkins fans.

Now Nike is a company I can see making good lacrosse equipment. But if they come into the lacrosse buisness world(sticks, shafts, gloves, etc.)Warrior is gonna be real mad, especially since Nike has the money to buy the MLL. Hay, it could happen. Nike makes great golf clubes, so a lacrosse stick wouldn't be too hard to manufacture. Not only that but with the way lacrosse is growing, why wouldn't Nike want to get into it? It is just another way to get money for them. Kinda saddens me though, if you know what I mean...lacrosse has always been a sport where it wasn't about the monney(lord, MLL players don't play for the money, the pay is pretty low)and if Nike gets in, lacrosse could certainly pay much more if they get to the MLL. And more money is not a bad thing, but it would sadden me to see the MLL turn out like the NBA(it can't all be about the money right?), or things like that. But my point is that I am not surprised to see Nike finally seeing the sport. It could be a whole new opening to the world of Lacrosse...ever since New Balance entered...I think Nike is jealous...hahaha, yea right, huh?

just to let you know warrior doesnt really won the MLL anymore, New Balance does, and i dont think that unless new balance wanted to sell the MLL nike could buy it from them, also Body by Jake is the majority owner and president of the league. i think nike would be good for lacrosse, bring in a big name to outside people could draw more in, but i hope they dont kill the companies like stx, and gait who dont do a lot of other sports.

well, nike supports syracuse in general because it's such an athletic school. in the bookstore, we have a fair amount of shirts made by nike. football, track, basketball, etc. all get nike stuff. so nike may sponsor every hopkins sport rather than exclusively lacrosse.

If nike took went into lax equipment i can tell you know that most likely brine would be crushed, and stx as well, warrior would be one of the only other companies that could handle it, harrow isn't too dedicated to lax so they would stay afloat. That and if nike took over the equipment would just get even flashier than it already is. Thats just personal opinion however.

You may be right, but maybe not. Nike went into the specialty hockey business and that would be very similar to going into lacrosse. Nike bought Canstar and they would probably buy either Brine or STX if they were going to do it. Then if they follow the same route they did with hockey, they would keep the original line (Brine or STX or whatever), co-brand some of the equipment initially, then come out with whatever NIKE specific line.

At least in hockey, it hasn't killed the other manufacturers because there is enough originality in their equipment. It may do good to increase the competition, or it may just make prices go up, or it may kill the competition as you say. Hard to say without a complete market evaluation.

Oh yeah, Nike also sponsors a huge amount of college athletic programs, so even if they sponsor for uniforms and shoes, doesn't necessarily mean they are going to go into the equipment side (unless they feel they can make a lot of money at it).

I'm surprised that Hopkin's athletic program is not already sponsered by Nike. Most colleges/universities, as was said, are "sponsered" by Nike or wear Nike products. Aside from Maryland (GO TERPS!) who is now sponsered by Under Armour for their football uniforms, etc. most major college football teams are Nike sponsered. A couple Adidas and Reebok may be throw in there but for the majority its Nike.
