When I played club at University of Illinois, about everyone did, including me, but I hated it. I think it did help a bit, but probably not enough to tell. If I am playing now, then I wouln't.

When I was in middle school me and my friend used to do the Powell "warrior" face paint, but now I just do the one strip under the eye. I like it and it keeps the sun out of my eyes on those late spring days.

i hate that stuff it runs down ur face when u sweat and u can see it out of the corner of ur eye and is really annoying

i just use it on really sunny days. One line under both eyes.

If you only put a small stripe id doesnt drip much and with my eyes that are really sensitive to light, its great

Playing in Florida, it's almost a necessity on some days when the Cascade visor doesn't cut it. I don't actually use the goop you've all come to love, but instead I use the tape like eye black strips- that way, there's no mess involved, just glare free happiness.

Yeah, I think if I were to be playing now, I'd go with the tape (riddell makes one type I think).

The eye strips I use are from Mueller, and are called the No Glare eye strips. Buy it from your preferred retailer, I got mine from Sports Authority for like 4 bucks and it contains something like 150 strips.

i use it the starting attack use it we put it on like towson does it a lot of poeple tell us that it looks cool that all three of us do it. As for it helping with sheilding the sun its such a small difference i cant even tell.

It actually doesn't deflect the sun as much as it absorbs it. The eye black is there to eliminate the reflection off the top of your cheek bones. When the sun hits your face, the light bounces off your cheeks right into you eyes. The black absorbs much more light than most peoples skin.

there was a scientific study about a year ago where they found that the tape strips were less effective than the goop.
we published it in the magaizine i where i work. i will try and find it and post it here

my boyfriend and a few of the guys on his team wear it.. not because it helps them just because it looks cool. they play after us at 7:30 so the sun's not even out anymore.
