Flamin' Galahs

Hi all,

I've been away from the forums for a while, but I'd like to announce to all you Aussie lax players out there who are thinking of doing the UK working holiday (or just holidaying in Europe) that we have formed a team called the Flamin' Galahs and are entering various tournaments in Europe.

We made our debut back in June at a tournament in London and have played once more since then. Because it's club season now over here there probably won't be another tournament until the end of the next season (May onwards).

We have about 30 guys (yep there are that many of us over here) but need more girls to form a proper team (only about 8 at this stage). We have players of all abilities, even some that have never played before in Australia!

yes that is definitely the aim

it will take a bit of a push though, to get enough players available to go as many people seem to be unavailable or unwilling to play outside of england... but i think once we have a critical mass then people will jump on the bandwagon

we played twice last summer, both tournaments on the outskirts of london which was easy to get to... there was a madrid 6-a-side tournament but we didn't even have enough available for that, but there are 30 guys on the books so it should be possible, and berlin is supposed to be the highlight tournament of the summer

Is there any other tournys in europe either the weekend before or after Berlin? I would be coming from Canada and would want to catch more than one tourny if i am gonna make the trip.....

I would just like to confirm that the Flamin' Galahs are confirmed entry to the Berlin Open 2007.

For any Aussies who may be heading this way next year the tournament will be held from Friday 21 to Sunday 24 June next year.

While I'm at it, if anyone has contact details for Ryan Garnsworthy and/or Michael Sevior can they PM them to me?

hey luke, i may be floating around O/S for a couple o' weeks, final four then maybe moving to croatia....how easy is it to hook up gear and a spot for a tournament - thinking the June 10 weekend, also - have you seen Benny Martin from Burnside lately (he is still working in England - last i heard played a couple of games for Hampstead ) ???

ben martin has played for us, he has been living near cambridge and played a couple of games for their uni team... he is keen for berlin and should be playing that too ... also loukesy played with us but he's moved on to canada ... PM me your e-mail address and i'll add you to the mailing list
