this is unbelievable. lacrosse, which has a lot of players and is growing fast, gets onto espn2. but the world series(?) of poker makes it onto espn, i mean come on. even nascar makes it onto espn. it makes me so mad:cry :angry :cry :angry :cussing :banghead :cry

what your seeming to forgot is if u ask 10 people what nascar all 10 would be able to tell u what it is. If u asked 10 people aobut lacrosse down in AZ MAYBE 7 out of 10 would have heard of it before.

yeah and EA Sports made a rugby game but no lacrosse game. If this was Europe I'd understand but lacrosse is more popular then rugby! (in America)

if they put lacrosse on espn1 then more ppl would grow to know it and it would start to grow even faster. then maybe there would be lax magazines in stores (there are none in the borders by me)

Not to the average viewer it's not. Think about it, all they see is a little white ball flying across the screen. A first time viewer couldn't tell who has the ball and what not. Don't even compare NASCAR to lacrosse because look at the fan base for NASCAR. They sell out their tracks every week while lacrosse can only come close to selling out all the tickets for the college championships which are by far the most viewed out. I love watching college lacrosse but the professional **** is garbage. The players have no passion. I remeber turning on the Lizards game the other day only to turn it Comedy Central not even 5 minutes into the game because it was so boring. Lacrosse really isn't a TV friendly spectator sport unless you know the game. Poker and Ping Pong bring in decent ratings because everyday people can associate with them which they can't with lacrosse. It's all ratings, not which game is better than which.

The World series of poker is one of the more entertaining things on t.v. imo. And NASCAR while in my oppinion is just stupid and boring has a large fan base and has the money to b able to have t.v. time on whatever channel they want. And saying lacrosse isn't a t.v. friendly sport isnt necessarily true...it's a high scoring contact sport which is considered a t.v. friendly sport by most people it's just the evolution of the game isn't at the level with a large enough fan base to get good t.v. time. Hockey and basketball are probably less t.v. friendly than lacrosse but the fans can identify players and the teams have wider recognition. When lacrosse gains more fans to support there teams and such like other sports have then they will get the t.v. time they deserve.

Personally I think the best way to get lacrosse spread faster through the media is to start showing clips on sportscenter. It wouldn't be too tough to add like even 5 minutes to designate to lacrosse.

I remember when they showed the Mike Powell flip on Top 10 plays, It was awesome, I was like...WOOO LACROSSE.

But this would allow more people to see what the sport is like and possibly encourage more watchers. I'm sure ESPN would enjoy more people watching ESPN for different reasons instead of HBO or Spike or something =P

Everyone is saying that lacrosse might be t.v. friendly because it is a fast paced contact sport, like hockey. But if you haven't noticed hockey isn't always great to watch on t.v. because it is hard to see the puck. Hockey is played on ice so if it's hard to see the black hockey puck then imagine how hard it would be to see a lacrosse ball (white ball+white head+white stringing= can't see ball).

People also mentioned that media attention might spread lacrosse. But I have a question, what if some 8 year old is watching some major lacrosse event on ESPN, he sees a bunch of college guys hitting each other with metal sticks. Little boy says to his dad "I want to play lacrosse, cause I want to hit people with metal sticks."

Don't get me wrong, I think the spread of lacrosse is a wonderful thing, but I think children are starting to play for all the wrong reasons. We all know that lacrosse isn't just about hitting people.

Well if an 8 year old says that, hes a moron. My sister is 8 and she smarter than that =/ Now a 4 year old maybe..but yeah.
