If you want to play attack, play attack.

I would agree, if you want to play attack then play attack. But if your asking, because of your size and speed, what position should you play, then I would say long pole middie too.

Theres nothing wrong with a big attackman. If you work on your stick skills then you can prove quite the challenge for any defender

Since you're a beginner, I would just play what your coach wants you to play. New players tend to fill holes on the defensive end, I've never seen a first year player play attack.

Until your stick skills develop, most coaches as shiftylax said, will try and utilize you on defense, most likely as a short-stick middie or lsm (since that seems to be your coach's preference) in order to use your athletic ability at it's best until you can develop skillsets that may move you to a different position (unless you prove yourself invaluable as a d middie). I've only seen one first-year attack player in my career, and he had an extensive hockey background that translated really well to scoring in his case. It all depends on how quickly you learn the sport, how hard you practice and whether or not your coach sees a reason to play at a certain position.

You're from the same area code as me, who are you playing for?
If it's Crespi, then tell Mr. Oswaks that the Oak Park Eagles say hi.

im gonna play lacrosse this spring, and i need help on what position to play.
Im 6'3 175 and i have pretty good speed for a freshman my 40 is 5.34. The coach was saying id be a good long pole middie but i want to play attack
thanks
it really depends...no one here knows what you are really meant for...so i would go with what your coach said. i would do the position my coach told me because he would have more knowledge and experience in knowing how to pick a position. but on the other hand, if u improve the skills needed by an attackman, maybe your coach will change his mind AND you will get the position u want (btw i play attack and it's awesome) so if your gonna improve on like quick sticking, dodging, stick protection, feeding, cutting and all those other attack skills...go for it
