Today I finally got my cast off after I broke my arm and was out for 6 weeks and missed most of the season.. so I am excited and all .. and most importantly when I got my cast on my doctor said I WOULD be able to attend my lacrosse camp(rutgers) on july 4th ( 2 weeks after I got it off).. so I go today and get it off and get it x-rayed.. and everything is going fine she said.. but now she is saying I CAN'T GO TO CAMP and CANT PLAY LACROSSE FOR 3 MONTHS.. I am soo pissed off.. she told me that it was still partially broken but healed enough that it doesn't require the cast anymore..

btw.. i broke my arm on my lower forearm(ulna and radial) .. they both were fractured pretty bad..

so I am still thinking about going to camp in 2 weeks..

Should I go??

:cussing :banghead :angry :argue :cry :help :devil :cussing

try to get a removable cast, if your doctor will let you. see, sometimes the cast is worse for the bone after a while. does it hurt to touch it now? anyway, i broke my hand mid-season, but i'm fine for camp in 2 weeks anyway. that really sucks, though. it took one of my friends so long to get his arm healed. the doctors couldn't determine what was broken. goodness. so, my doctors said previously that if i wore a splint i could play sports about 2 weeks after my break. sadly, i play lacrosse, so that didn't really work out. but maybe, if you wear a splint you can still play. check it out.

get a brace to put on it. When I broke my wrist, and wanted to get back to lax, i played with a brace on it after my cast came off.

i'd just get some kind of soft cast and go to camp anyhow... just to give it some kind of support and cushion

If you can get your refund on camp then I wouldn't go but if not I'd go and mayb try playing and jus chill. I think you can get a refund with a docs note tho so try it its not worth going and getting hurt again 4 the entire summer.

alright.. thanks guys..

i did mention to my doctor about putting a brace on it or a removable cast and she said that the way my wrist is broken if i landed on it no matter how much protection i had it would brake .. she also said it is very fragile so it still is a risk if i get checked.. =(

me and my parents talked and i am not sure if i am going to go.. i lose $100 out of the $300(i think) i paid but they are willing to pay it..

I do think I am going to go to a camp that is about 5/6 weeks later and is a local day camp..

thanks for all the input =)

I really don't want it to get re-injured.. i really don't need surgery =(

I might not go to the camp in 2 weeks but go to the camp in 6 weeks.. that will give my muscle time to build up and heal some more

..and if I did get like something to put on(no i didn't save my cast) .. how would I put it on with gloves and arm pads..?

if the camp is just an instructional camp and u can get most of your money back then theres no reason to go, but if it is a showcase camp or if u cant get your money back then just screw the arm and go.

doctors suck so ******* bad, i was supposed to be out 3 months with a broken leg, then it was 6 months, then 8 months, then i played a month of sports and was told "we gotta take the plate out of your leg, it's weakening the bone". Wtf? wish i had known that BEFORE you put the thing in, he told me i could have it all through life. God that sucked

You guys are always blaming doctors for all of your problems! Its not like the doctor has any power in how long it takes for your arm/leg to heal. They have no control over that. Sometimes they can't see a certian part of the break and it might take longer to heal. For me I am taking the summer off lacrosse b/c I just broke my arm last week. I would rather come back next season healed and ready to play than go to a camp and re-break it. But thats just my opinion and do what you want.

face it guys.. doctors DO have to be overcautious with what they say..

my doctor isn't going to say "go to camp" unless she is 100% sure.. in some part she is covering her own butt.. say she told me to go and I broke it.. she could get in trouble ..

hehe, that'd be funny. look, kids, we don't want to argue. don't bring that crap here. if you feel like arguing, go somewhere where it is appreciated. it isn't here. anyway, i figure all doctors act the same. orthodontists included. they have to fix the one dang tooth way in the back of the mouth that NO ONE will ever see. whatever. yeah, my hospital doctor was kinda cool, though. she said i should wear protection, my splint under my glove when i practiced for a couple of weeks, and not wear it when i wasn't doing strenuous things. so, i didn't play for five days, and haven't worn the splint since. i don't have a knuckle on my right pinky, though. oh well.
