The premiere was just on NBC for the show "Heroes"..
Personally In my honest opinion i feel this is gonna be one of NBC's best shows...
Did anyone else see it???
HIGHLIGHTS
1- The Mirror lady killing the 2 guys and signing SHH with her finger
2- The artist who paints the pictures before they happen
3- The japanese dude in general
4- The part where he falls from the building and his Bro catches him
5- the girl falls flat on her face and is fine and also puts her hand in the garbage disposal and doesn't even get hurt

Actually, she is connected. Her adoptive father is a government/secret agency man trying to gain information about the heroes. She asked her adoptive mother to tell her who her real parents were, so she was obviously taken by the man in the first place (unless they are setting us up for one heck of a plot twist). So you connect her to her adoptive father, her adoptive father to the geneticist from India who was driving the cab, to the guy who thinks he can fly (but his brother did this time). All connected for you.
This is probably foreshadowing something... like the cheerleader will be an outcast and turn evil somehow...i dunno. I read into things too much. lol

THANK YOU FLD i finally got the last piece of the puzzle for the first show........which was about the cheerleader being connected....
I understood how all the others where connected
*although It will prob. end in a serious plot twist*
You come in handy.

Here's where I "wow" you.
The mirror woman you saw is actually a physical manifestation of her Id.
What is Id you may ask?
Freud's structural theory
Id
The id ("das Es", cf. Latin id, English it, German es) is the physical system "which behaves as though it were the Unconscious", in effect, the reservoir of need-gratification impulses such as the primitive instinctual drives of sexuality and aggression. Freud believed that the id is inborn, operating on the dynamics of the primary process mode of thinking. The drives of the id are said to work according to the pleasure principle, requiring immediate gratification or release without concern for external exigencies. Though hunger itself may be seen as a pure id desire, the crying of the hungry infant is already an instinctive attempt to relate, that is, to communicate that need to the object of the drive in question, namely, one who can help to satisfy that need. Thus drives are linked to object relations, as Freud observed in his 1895 essay "Project for a Scientific Psychology".
Freud may have borrowed the term das Es from his advocate and personal acquaintance Georg Groddeck. Groddeck, a pioneer of psychosomatic medicine and self-proclaimed "wild analyst", published Das Buch vom Es (roughly, "The Book of It") several weeks before Freud published The Ego and Id (1923). German readers would have been aware of Nietzsche's previous use of "it" to describe that which is impersonal and subject to natural law within us.
Where the woman may have wanted to simply hurt the thugs beating her, the Id-self took the desire and impulse and carried out the action to its terminal conclusion.
Haha. I learned about that in AP Psychology last year but never thought to connect it with the show. Very niiice.

O actually took time to read that and it makes complete sense.....
Its like what she wanted to do the mirror lady does ......
The mirror does almost watever is desired to do by the woman...
Conclusion - Mirror has mind of its own but is influenced by the desires of nikki

You guys got it. The writer/s of the show did a good job coming up with that though. Usually manifestations of the subconscious don't usually get primetime spots.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Mirror Nikki when she the real Nikki falls in love with one of the other heroes. You know it will happen, but how it happens will be interesting. I see a love rectangle or something forming. Nikki will be strongly attracted to one of the men, but it will be a base, carnal desire. She will then fall for the healer-flying man because he is safe and holds her. The problem is that while the real Nikki is falling in love, the Mirror Nikki will be doing Lord only knows what with guys that she finds attractive. Then all those guys will think they were with the real Nikki...
... well you get the point. This is going to get complicated.

Lamans terms-
Mirror nikki picks up on Nikki's sexual attractions, fufills her needs Due to that she is influenced by Nikki's original desires.......
Mirror Nikki gets Nikki in a whole lotta trouble
Now 2 of my favorite shows are on on Mondays: Prison Break and Heroes.

I think my favorite character so far is going to be Hiro. Something about a Japanese worker-bee (I forget the Japanese term for them) businessman who has prayed for superpowers his whole life then gets them makes me root for the fellow.
EDIT: I just remembered. The Japanese refer to them as Salarymen.

I enjoyed the show and understood the connections, and as you said FLD, there's gonna be huge plot twists all over this show, but I was a little turned off by the preview for next week's show of the comic books. While I understand that the show is heavily influenced by comic book characters (which is the whole reason I like it), having the new "heroes" seeing themselves in comic book form is a bit self serving. I was hoping the show would slowly bring these people together, and show the hardships these people will have living in the real world with their particular powers, and the struggles they endure with their consciences of use of their powers.
I wanted the show to be like a comic book, but deal with comic books...ya know? I hope that makes sense to you all, and hopefully this one episode is the only contact these people have with their comic book selves...
I don't think she will turn evil, but she is definitely unbalanced as she said she has tried to kill herself seven different times and has failed. :chair:

You are partly right. She already knew she wasn't going to die, but think on this, she had to have tried to kill herself the first time. You have to understand, she is not seeing what will hurt her, she is trying to see what will kill her. Did you notice how disappointed she was with herself for failing to die? Her comments on how she hates how she is not normal only serves to reinforce this theory.

one quick question for FLD.....i picked up on the whole "Id" thing last night, (i missed the frist fifteen minutes so this might sound dumb) but is the "mirror Nikki" a physical manifestation, or merely a mental one? from what i can see, she is merely suffering from Disassosciative Identity Disorder, or similar syndrome, not harboring any sort of supernatural/heoric power. unless her "Id" side actually physically comes out of the mirror and lays a beatdown with heat-ray vision or something, i fail to see how she is anything more than a mental patient.

I think that based upon the show's premise, the mirror Nikki is going to be either a physical or telekinetic manifestation. Until we see more of her, we won't really know. One thing that the show's producers did show was that the mirror Nikki exists apart from the real Nikki because every time she walked by a mirror, the mirror Nikki could be seen waiting before moving; there was a one-two second lapse in time between the two.
We will just have to wait and see.

I didn't actually find this show too great. I dunno, maybe I am too spoiled by lost, but I found the connections much too obvious and simplistic. It was just the first episode though, if the writing gets a little better, it has great potential. It also really bugged me throughout the whole show that Nikki needed to put on a bra. But Hayden Panettiere (the cheerleader) is really hot. She is my age too, maybe I have a chance!

I grant you that, but if you remember she was telling the kid filming her that she was couldn't believe that the steel bar through the neck didn't kill her. The point is, up until this point she has been trying to kill herself for whatever her reasons.
As for the first time, well I think we'll see it coming up in a future episode.

no , she said throughout the show that she was depressed. that whole little conversation with the camera guy while they were walking on the dirt road wasn't for nothing. i beleive that she tried to kill herself the first time by jumping off of the scafold. found out she wasnt dead and tried it again.

IMO whats happened
the government guy tries to kill her but shes got powers(obviously).
She has a horrible accident but realizes shes fine. OR finds out that when she cuts herself she hels immediately.
From then on she was testing her powers...not trying to kill herself because she knew she couldnt.

That has had me stumped. I'm thinking it is a very powerful, yet uncontrollable mutant... perhaps one with very limited intelligence. I think the explosion could also just be the Sailar guy doing something nuts. All in all, it is going to be the major plot device of the series so don't count on learning anything for at least 4 more weeks.

Wow. Well, I was wrong in asserting that the secret agent man was Sylas. It turns out Sylas is the African fellow, but he is in league with secret agent man.
Sadly, not a great deal happened with this episode aside from that which makes it more of a filler episode.
I think too much attention is being given on the two brothers who fly, while they are loking to write off the cop in the next episode (maybe).
Hooligan
10-09-2006, 09:03 PM
Right, so we now know the cheerleader's weakness, the Japanese guys have it figured out til Vegas, and it seems to me that the alter-ego mirror chick's husband is this mysterious killer, that the cop shot earlier in the show, and he has some kind of mind control power, as well as invincibility. All in all, the show is definitely coming together nicely.

The brothers would be an interesting story line, if one of them goes evil...which I actually think is very possible. The younger brother shows some real "dark side" tendencies, especially with his agression, and how he's dealt with his family so far.

So, the cheerleader apparently is the key.
I knew the Japanese guy (Hiro) was my favorite. He certainly does seem to have his power perfected, according to his future self.
This episode showed them finally getting in contact with one another. Las Vegas housed the majority of the encounters. The cop was apparently killed off, and stripped of his power by Silas. Next week, it seems that the politician will have to test his flying powers to avoid being killed by the cheerleader's foster father.
I dunno, this episode seemed to be more filler, but it showed some progression of the show as well. And ramming the Camaro with that rapist going head-long in a wall was a nice touch.

Wow. I missed the past two episodes of Heroes (stupid work and cable issues), but tonights episode was fantastic in my opinion. I really enjoyed Niki's storyline, but I am seriously sick of the whole "save the cheerleader, save the world." I don't find here character intriguing in the least and hope that the focus of the show shifts. I don't know if Niki is dead though.

I don't know if Niki is dead though.
What it looked like to me, was that D.L. had reached inside Niki, and it appeared that he was strangling her "good" self. Whether he killed good Niki or just disabled her for now, it appears to me that evil Niki will be taking over the body for a while. Its about time that someone really went psycho, and give the "heroes" a super villan. The cheerleader's father and Silas are both obviously the major enemies of the show, but they need someone who is more challenging to beat.
I do want to know more about that character the cop (with the mind reading powers) was shooting at in the episode that the FBI wanted his help. That character had some interesting powers of telekinesis (sp?).

Extremely intresting with quite a plot twist. So Claires father has more insiders than we thought. That chick is trying to screw over Mohinder, and now Isaac...
And is anyone else thinking that Claires biological parents weren't her actual bio parents? When her father was walking them out, it seemed to hint at him maybe hiring them...
yea thats what it seems like to me, it did seem to hint that he like hired them or something just to come in and talk to her, anyway this show is startin to get really good.

Still love how the thread was renamed
anyway the show is just gettign better and better i just hope it doesn't get too far-fetched like lost did
Whoever this Sprague guy is, the radioactive one they think is Sylar, he's the one that causes the nuke to go off in NYC. Cheerleaders dad probably manipulates him into doing it somehow. If not, than the "Others capture Jack" twist later on is going to be that he doesnt cause it, after they spend a season or so implying that he will.
Im calling it.

is it just me or does it seem like everyones getting powers. i mean seriously, a girl that has an alter-ego is a stretch but a kid that can make electronics work, c'mon. If this continues than its only a matter of time until the whole world has super powers and it would be odd to not have them. then they would need to make a second show the "unheroes" to counteract it. its a good show and im sucked into it big time, but i thought the fantastic 4 was a good amount of heroes, why did they have to make a million different heroes. who needs saving anymore?
Ps. is the whole "save the cheerleader, save the world" thing getting on anyone elses nerves. i get it....jeez.

yea i really thought the part where the girl in the diner died was freaky and also though that the hiro thing might end up being interesting
EDIT: the father getting killed freaked me out..

Hiro tellaported back to save the dinner girl, he got back to her at some point, hense the photo of them on the wall they show at the end, that wasn't there before... = Strongly Agree
Damn I love this show. = Also Agreed
It looked like Hiro got to her, but he didnt exactly look happy. Maybe he knew he couldnt save her or get back to his friend so he left the pic in hopes that he would find it.

The black guy is the helper. He helps Claire's father with things needing to be done.
Since Hiro went back in time..does that effect sylar being in the future at all?

what do you all belive has become of Hiro? its obivoius that he overshot his temporal target and arrived six months in the past, and apparently failed to save the waitress. also, he neglected to return to the point in time he and ando had agreed upon. any ideas as to where/when Hiro is, and why he has been waylayed?

I just watched all the episodes online, and i have to say this is an amazing show. In the last episode though, at the end, where the Haitian guy tells Claire to keep her secret, whats up with that? It seems like he's trying to work against her dad, but is it because the dad is bad or is it the Haitian guy thats evil? and who else is he working with

Because the second post on this page (by Coltslax) has an image in it that is in a password protected directory. See how it is red x since you don't enter the user/pass. That image is from tanster.com and as I said, is in a directory that is password protected. Hope this makes sense.

I don't ordinarily watch the show, so I don't know the names of the characters or their powers or anything. I have it on tonight though. Thirty-four minutes into tonight's episode, there's a scene in which two men are in a room arguing. On a shelf in the background you can clearly see a white Cascade helmet.
What's up with that? Maybe this has been discussed before. I wouldn't know.

hmm, i missed the cascade helmet.
but i was surprised when claire told her dad what she knew about him. I thought she would have kept it from him
and next week's episode looks great, i cant wait

By far my favorite show on TV. It makes Monday somewhat tolerable.
Tonights episode was another barn-burner. I'm starting to understand why Peter Patrelli goes nuclear. It seems that all the main "heroes" now have some kind of personal conflict. Hopefully its not too much for the show to handle, and the writing stays good enough to keep the show riveting!

I BET that he absorbs/aquires too many powers of those around him and his body eventually can't take it anymore

haha yes after peter petrelli flies away with the invisible guy ( idk his name) theres a cascade helmet in a closet. And personally I think surresh is starting to suspect Sylar to be someone other than who he says he is.

So last night had quite a few tidbits.
Claire's father comes clean about what he's been up to, and we get a look into his past. We find out the invisible guy used to be his partner, and was later shot by Claire's father.
The nuclear guy and the mind reading cop teamed up to get more info out of Claire's father. They later tranquilized the nuclear guy, and put him in the containment unit.
Claire and the Hatian later fled together, at Claire's father's request. The Hatian took his memories of Claire and the situation away. This could become a wild side-story to the whole series.
Great episode!!!

I wasn't sure, but was the lady with the wifi signals in her mind the same new employee at the paper factory.
Also, why didn't Mr. Bennet get screwed by the radiation.

can someone clear up why they are doing this in the first place and why Mr.Bennet was supposed to shoot the invisible guy?
laxmann1993
02-27-2007, 09:11 PM
Invisible man was a "security breach" hiding "one of them." Mr. Bennet was also, his daughter Claire. He told his boss that the Hatian was hiding Claire and he was supposed to kill the Hatian. Mr. Bennet set it up as if the Hatian shot him, wiped his mind, and stole Claire, destroying any evidence of Claire's existence.

there were many unanswered things i didnt like or unrealistic for instance how do they explain to police what happened and how did the invisible guy survive. even though none of them are major, just little things that bother me. Also the radiation affecting Mr. Bennet

Was it just me, or was there like a million commercials? Every time they went on I was so annoyed. They were on at least every 10 minutes and had like 6 commercials in a row... so annoying. Sorry for the rant.
But the last episode really did answer a lot of questions. There are still many that need to be answered and some that were created, but overall I thought it was a really good episode. I too thought the radiation with Mr. Bennet was a little unrealistic, but that's alright. Also, in the preview it shows Simone Deveaux (Peter's and Issac's friend) coming back to life or something? I can't wait to see what happens there.

I learned a lot from that episode, but it leads to more questions. I'm still sorta confused on what happened at the end. What exactly were they going to do to Claire that her dad wanted to stop, and staged her kidnapping for? And we sorta knew that Mr. Bennet/his company didn't make the people the way they are, but what do they do? It seems like they made the nuclear guy more powerful, or are they just studying them.
laxman359
02-28-2007, 04:11 PM
my guess is that they study on how to genetically create more people like this extinguish them or track them..however i have realized this show wont be on the air for a whole lot longer unless they make a sequel type thing cause at the end the said something about the next few chapters being the last and finding out the man behind it all...anyone else think its crazy hiros dad gave claire to mr bennet and that was the apartment where the pigeon cages are. everything is connected. I absolutely love this shows writing

Heroes was picked up for a 2nd season. Could be really good or really bad.
I also noticed that the roof Mr. Bennet got Claire was the Deveaux Building (Simone's dad), and where Invisible man had his pigeons, and where Isac painted it being destroyed and him and Simone gettin it on.

I'm confused about the Haitian and Mr Bennet's relationship. The Haitian was told to erase Claire's memory but he went against mr bennet's orders and didn't. So he was working against him, I guess taking orders from the head guy shown in the flashbacks and who shot the explosive guy. But then the Haitian helps Mr Bennet save Claire? Is he working for or against him, it seems like he is helping him now but it just doesn't really make sense when before he wasn't.

This is building up to an "X-men" premise, where the people with powers, and the people without powers will be going head to head, eventually.
