You might want to put some runners in there, between the mesh and the sidewall...
Also, you might just want to string closed sidewall with 12 diamond...It get pretty whippy with open sidewalls once its broken in, and it'll only be worse without runners. You also may want to move the U/V shooter up 2 or so rows.

haha what does that mean?

Theyre the verticle pieces of string, they weave through the diamonds on the edge of the mesh, its hard to explain, but you'll get it when you see the pic.

I don't think I was trying to do open sidewalls, I think I was trying to do double sidewalls..So I might just un-string it and make it closed then.?

this is how you limit that, use a runner strung from the top of the outer mesh holes to the bottom, you weave it in between the holes, then do the double sidewalls.

the yellow mesh eclipse in EndlessFimbulvet's webshots has correct sidewalls.

I think that you should go through a few more diamonds near the bottem, but its all preference. And can we get a sideview for next time?

Hope your knee gets better. Is that a lax injury?

Nice string job. You may want to rethink the open sidewalls with 12d since it tends to bag out...A LOT.

Nice to see an attractive girl goalie on tlf...it's nice to know that I'm not the only good looking goalie here. By the way...that one guy in your other album looks REALLY happy to be in the "friend zone"

hey now, i like to think i am in the good lookin goalie group too...

and i like the pocket, if you need help there's plenty of tutorials in the stick doctors lounge that would show you how to do whatever you want.

looks pretty good to me.
i would recomend maybe moving that V up a bit. i think it'll have major whipage with that.
other than that it's good.

i don't think runner's aren't that impoarnt. my newest string job has no runners and throw like a champ =)

yeah i took a stick to the knee on a wrap-around shot in my fall ball league...bummer i know.
it's throwing alright right now but i'm worried that as soon as it gets a little more broken in there will be too much whip... (theres already a little). i don't want to take it apart though.. first string job (even if its garbage) still real proud of it.

its not flirt time, its help out our goalie friend time. I didn't know you were a girl till this comment but anyway... I'd raise the V up and make sure the sidewalls are symmetrical because looking at the face you did the left side better than the right side so I'd fix the right side. Also take pictures of the pocket from a sideview. :)

you might want to move the shooting string up a few notches

well, at least it's fall ball.

Anyways, I really don't think that you should have to take the pocket out. All you really need to do is just adjust the shooters. I would move the V up (or just take it out), and then mess with the tensions of the shooters until you get what you like. I never had a huge problem with my open 12D last year until after a few months of playing continuously.

my stick is still throwing pretty much straight to the ground. I tightened the runners but any other suggestions?

EHSLAX12

those shooters might be screwin you a bit. try taking them out, moving each of them up a row, and using 3 straight instead of 2 and u

ya 3 straight almost allways works on an eclipse

:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: holy crap. THat's pretty good for a first string job, if you ask me. I should send my stick to your house and have you do mine. lol. but seriously, now that you have a pretty good idea ofnhow to do it, you can fix it if need be, or if you just restring your stick anytime you want just for the heck of it. Trust me, those skills come in handy.

thanks guys... and girl? .. I got new strings for the runners and they are way tighter... so it's throwing pretty nicely now .. theres a little bit of rebound but that's stuff that I think i can fix. This was really helpful considering I am the most experienced stringer at my school .. and eh thats not saying much.
but anyways I will probably string like 1000 sticks over the course of my injury.. or at least 'til im off crutches so this might not be my last thread. keep suggestions coming if you have them

I have found 3 straight shooters to create more whip, not less, at least in 12D. I like 2 straight shooters, one pretty tight at the top, one less tight about 2 rows of diamonds below it.

Rebounds are more in the depth of the pocket then the actual string job itself, but by the looks of it, you already have a deep enough pocket, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

I don't think so. Unless they came up with some dumb rule that I haven't haerd yet

b3lx

no.. no depth limit? at least i have never had a problem with it and i usually have a pretty deep pocket.
however there is a limit on the length of your shaft.. and i am pretty sure thats it

Yes. You are right. (for field sticks)

Not when it comes to goalie heads though.
There are a few rules regarding the stringing of a full traditional goalie head in womens. (But thats not too common)
