I know people who don't play with a ballstop. They never get called for it but I don't see why you would do it anyway.

if you really dont want oone get one of those really thin ones thencut it in a thin strip that you you barely have one but we need a ruling to see if it counts as aball stop

well can you buy them seperatly...because mine is falling apart and i usually get them from when i string my head with a kit?

Yes, at lacrosse stores you can buy them separately. I don't know where you live, but for example at LaxWorld in Maryland you can buy just a ball stop by itself. You can buy anything there separately. I've bought one sidewall string before. If you don't live near any lacrosse stores, some sporting goods stores with a lacrosse section sometimes sells just the stop pre-packaged. But if you can't find that, you'd probably have to buy a whole stringing packet to get the stop.

I don't use a ball stop. I know I should but the thing seems useless. The ones that Brine makes now are so small and thin, they don't provide any cushioning at all, and they don't seem to serve any purpose. Oh well.

Does anybody know what the difference is between a foam ball stop, like the ones found on most sticks, and rubber ones, as on the Prophecy? I'm just curious and thought it would be cool to know. Wouldnt the rubber one encourage more bounce than a foam one?

There are different types of rubber. It's all dependant on their chemical make-up. SOme types of rubber might deaden the impact while others would make it bounce off.

I wish all STX sticks had the stop in them like the Fuse has, its rubber and it really deadens the bounce.

the purpose of a ball stop isnt too cushion the ball, or to stop it from breaking the throat. It is to stop the ball from rolling out when you hold it vertically. and the best ball stops are the girls ones, becuase they are so thick.

You'd have to be a moron not to use one, they cost like 75 cents, ann almsot no weight to the head, and help out a great deal

There deffantly worth it. its not going to hurt not to use one. Actually, in the league i used to be in it was illigal to use one.

That's what I thought the purpose was as well. But the pockets are so deep now, you don't need a ball stop. I have a Matrix and when I hold it vertically, the ball stays in the mesh pocket area and never touches the plastic where the ball stop should be. Even if I did have a stop in place, the Brine stops are now so thin that it wouldn't prevent a ball from rolling out. I have a Brine stop in my Edge and it is literally 2 millimeters thick.

Yah you are right the warrior and brine ballstops are so thin that they are worthless. And actually you do need it to cushion incoming balls, if you don't have one you will here a nice loud crack when the ball is channeled down into the pocket.

My favorite company for ballstops is probably Gait, they have nice thick foam ones

i have a big old brine one form my M1 and put it on my bionic, the new 1 on my cyber is like half the thickness.

why wouldnt you use one?
