ok so im looking into getting a ps3 when it comes out on november 17. my question to all of you is where can i preorder one? also, has anyone waited in line to get a system before?(xbox 360, etc.) if so, i would love it if someone could explain to me how it works so i could maybe know what to do when it comes out. thanks

im pretty sure that they moved the release date to sometime in january. im not positive, so correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure they did.

get there as early as possible like 8 hours before the store even opens and then you still might not beat the lines to get PS3, either that or just camp out depending on how old you are

I don't think 8 hrs is long enough. Theres people who are desperat and will camp for days if they have to.

you cant preorder anymore, and dont go to a gamestop or EB to camp. If you are going to camp you need to go to best buy or target or a place like that. Get there at least the day b4 places are only getting around 8 or less instock

They moved it to March but only in Europe. Its still coming out the 17th here in the U.S.

Just a heads up, I have a friend who is in charge of the gaming and electronics department at a local best buy and he had advised me that the PS3 is going to be in much more limited quantities than the 360 when it had been released. He couldn't give me a actual number of systems to be released at the store but he said that it wouldn't be over 10 for the store and he hadn't heard of any stores receiving more than that many. This was told to me maybe a month ago so it's not the most up-to-date news but its also not that old, he said ps3's were going to be extremely difficult to acquire on their first release.
Just for comparison: I got my Xbox 360 the day it came out. The store had 40 premium consoles and 20 basic consoles in stock for the release. I was the 8th person in line and arrived at 7 p.m. the night before the release and hung out outside the store. The 60th person arrived at approximately 1 a.m. It was raining out and very cold but still managed to be a good time. I'd love to get a ps3 the day of the release but I don't have the funding for that right now. Anyone who does get one on the release date, congratulations and good luck.

let me tell you how rare it is... there are 400,000 or less going to NA. For reserves my store had 45 people waiting outside over night, that wasnt even to get a system. So if you want to get it oin the 17 show up on the 16 around noon

You might have to wait a full day for it. But it will be easy if the weather is good and you bring friends and you have something like a PSP or iPod to keep you busy.
The fact is you probably won't get one before X-mas.

I think im going to camp out at my local best buy. i got the info, and they are going to be handing out the tickets for the ps3's at 7 am on the 17th. honestly, what would seriously be a good time to go and wait in line? like 5 pm the night before? And, how does that work? how to you start a line? is there a spot where youre supposed to go? and info will help a lot. thanks guys

pretty much just sit in front of the door, if anyone tries to get in front of you, kick them in the nuts. People, if their polite, should pretty much just form a line in back of you.

I think I'm gonna freeze myself till it comes out cuz I really can't wait anymore its driving me crazy.

I camped out for the 360. You're definately going to have to camp overnight.
Bring things to keep you entertained. Chairs, blankets, jackets, cards, food/drinks.
You'll feel like a loser, but than again, you wont be alone. =)

I wish I could get one but they seem expensive. They dont have too many because it seems like a really advanced system and they may take a while to make. Or I could be wrong. Bring a tent and good luck to whoever is determined to get a ps3.

my firends are camping outside target right after school on thursday until it comes out...school ends at 2...im trying to convince my parents to let me just so i can sell it on ebay and make a quick grand, but they woont let me

The ones on ebay are the japanese releases. eBay pulled the plug on selling PS3 pre-orders because it's against ToS to sell something you don't have possession of. Once it releases stateside you'll see some high reserves, that only the gullible, some people are just desperate and some people just don't know better or read the fine print (and take home a brand new box!).

think about it, after the xbox 360 was released, they were selling on ebay for $1200, thats a 300% mark up. If the same thing happens with the PS3 they could be selling for close to, if not more than $2000 :jawdrop:
Im actually starting to stand in line around 2ish on Thursday and wait it out till midnight. Then skipping school on Friday to sell it on eBay. Yay!

You can't camp for more then 24 hours outside Bestbuy. Great now there is going to be a line to get on the 24 hour line.

haha I'm buying a Wii to hold me over until I have the money and the PS3 is easy findable, but I do want a PS3.
i was at gamestop the other day though and he said that the wii is a much funner system and style of gameplay that the PS3 or xbox 360. i have a 360 and the dude at gamestop said to keep it and get a wii and not a PS3.

so the current update for my PS3 situation is 3 of my friends are camped outside of best buy since wednesday, somehow they managed to get a 30 inch HD TV and an extension cord that they plugged into best buy to steal there power , and for the past days they've been playing halo 2 god i wish i didnt have to go to school
