I have been working at a new job in Belleville, ON. I am moving here this weekend. I looked and asked around and there isn't much lacrosse around here (if any). Anywho, I am looking to start up some pickup and then possibly a summer league.

I realize that I need to find a place to play but first I need to see if the interest is out there. I don't know a soul in this place other than my co-workers who don't know jack about lacrosse. How should I go about recruiting potential players? What are methods people have used?

If I do set up a league, are there insurance issues I need to look into?

Thanks for the help.

Hey Hackstall - Tyendinaga might have a few guys that would play pick-up or masters. Might want to contact someone down on the rez, maybe put an ad in the local paper on the Rez & in Belleville.

I know there were quite a few guys that would play in Colborne a few summers ago and that was arranged by the Colborne Arena owner/manager. They had the arean to themselves Sunday nights. A few of my former master's teammates played there on a regular basis. One player on my midget team this year is from Colborne so I can ask him if he knows anyone in that area.

And I am sure that you could lure some Cobourgians out your way too!

As for insurance issues, I think laxtreme has a pretty good handle on organizing a league and probably knows a few from your area interested in helping out too.

Let us know how it goes - maybe an interlock with Clarington Masters? :agree:
