I've been searching everywhere for the right cup, I think I finally found it. But I am going to be playing Goal in this upcoming spring season and I was just wondering if any other goalies cared about leg (Upper Thighs) protection. Personally I don't care-I Have and can take a couple bruises while playing keep, but I wanted to know if it's something a goalie really needs to have.

-This is the one I am talking about. (basically just a reg. cup)

PS: This really isn't a preference thread, I'm just want a few opinions on wether or not goalies really care about thigh protection.

If you really want something to protect your legs, get football thigh pads and wear them for practice. Don't wear them for games though, they make you a little less mobile. It will probably make you less afraid of the ball because you're not feeling pain in your thighs but it's all up to you.

P.S. Shock Docter has experience making cups and have sorted out all of the defects and weak points. This is Warrior's first cup however, the first batch is stll most likely flawwed in some places. Choose your cup wisely I'll leave it at that.

Yeah I'll probally look into shockdoctor a little, The thing is that football pads can sometime not be that mobile or comfortable, At our school we run the "Cougar Mile" Which consists of up and down the stadium stands, around the track, through the forest, Up some hills, stairs- and it's a little over a mile. But I see what your saying.

Maybe this... Does anyone know if this has a built in cup?: http://www.lacrossemonkey.com/warrior-lrpplayersclubgp611.html

I just have a shock doctor cup/compression shorts.
I'm probably going to be getting a hockey cup for the upcoming season.
For practice now though, I put folded up towels on my thighs.
PS: Are you going to play Varsity or JV? I'm going to assume varsity?

Is there any way you could slip the pads out before you run? And those pants don't have a built in cup. Just a little bit of padding.

Well I started playing Lax-JV as a Sophmore so this will be my 2nd year playing so I might be on JV. BTW do u play goal all yr long? or just for fallball- cuz in ur prof it says u play pretty much everything.

you could wear baseball slide shorts, they have padding there and a cup slot

if you want thigh protection, warrior makes leg pads....I used to use the warrior ones but I stopped after I wasn't worried about getting hit in the thigh anymore...I got used to shots hitting my legs so all I really need to worry about is the cup

My first season as a goalie i wore the warrior padded pants, and although it does offer protection and makes shots nearly painless, the sprints are twice as hard.

they offer good protection, but youre risking speed, and comfort. i don't wear them anymore, anytime you get a shot to the theigh it never hurts for more than a minute anyway.

Yeah. I'm pretty much a goalie now. But, if needed i play attack.
I guess I need to fix my profile then. :chuckle:

same with me, always a goalie, unless were playin an easy team with a crappy goalie that i can rip on. i normally just use the shockdoctor cup...my friends say i have the most gigantic calves theyve ever seen on a fat kid. same goes for my thighs. i just adjust to the pain and taking the shot. it doesnt hurt as much as people think

This is your first year as a goalie, si?
You have your goal stick yet?

I too would like to try out the eraser CP. Looks like a beast.

And...Are you playing on one of the doublestixx teams?

-I switched from defense to goalie right after 06 spring league ended

-I have an Eclipse on a gait DB803 works pretty good

-No, I'm not doing fall ball but I wish I had, Our defense long poles must need some work because we have so many shots attempted, so much that I think you and the other 2 goalies are in like the top 15 shots saved list.

I was actually 2nd 2 weeks ago. But I missed a game and slipped to sixth.
And yes. The whole D (including me) need some work.

On a thread related not. I wish I had some thigh protection this afternoon. My leg kills. Middle to high school lax is a huge difference.

On an unrelated sidenote. How are you liking the eclipse? I'm thinking about getting one for a backup.

err, The whip sucks, and there is no channel I guess the stringing sucks ballsacks I like how derrick strung his nemi tho. Mine is just like a bag. I don't know what he was doing today when he threw it like a mile above your head and to the opp. side of the field tho... when we were like 5 ft apart in a triangle I guess he needed more whip...I guess the eclipse is a pretty good head. But when I save up money im gonna get a game stick Nemisis or the Money and make the eclipse a practice/backup

His is just 12d, Tight at the top, bags out a bit near the throat, with a pretty nice channel. Theres a tutorial for a similar pocket in the stick doctors lounge. May want to check that out.

Yeah.. Well on my eclipse i have hard mesh I have no Idea why...and some of the ends of the extra mesh near the top string curl up and mess with throws sometimes. Thanks coach for the awsome stringing job! I might restring it or get a nemi in a couple weeks but until then I will deal.

And-Back to topic Im goin with a shock doctor cup with the warrior padding ontop until I stop sucking and I can catch everything.
