Well im a junior now, and its scary when I look at the avg. GPA that these colleges are accepting. I only have a 3.4 and I wish I tried harder. Anyone have any good colleges that accept people with like a 3.4? Judging by the PLAN test I should get about a 28 on the ACT. Also does anyone wish they had tried harder and hadn't slacked off??

grades-wise kind of wise i'd tried harder during maybe freshman or senior year but i still have pretty good grades and should definitely get accepted by the colleges im applying too

other then that i wish i did more spents and didnt focus so much on one girl as opposed to many girls

Yeah man. My GPA is around a 3.3 and it really sucks applying to schools. If I had done better, I would be anywhere. My SATs were GREAT and my ACT are hopefully going to be good. Really my only saving grace for most schools is that I have a great essay, great SATS/ACTS, and a good amount of Com Service.

I'm a senior with a gpa of 3.4 and a sat score of 1700. I've got really good recommendations from my engineering II teacher, physics teacher, and German IV teacher. The one thing i regret is doing bad in the second semester of AP Euro. Even though i came out with a C and a 3 on the AP test i could have done alot better and my GPA would be higher. Thats why I'm trying really hard this year to pull of all A's. So far my lowest grade is an 91% (B+ in my county).

Im hoping my recommendations, academic awards, and community service will make some of the big name colleges that I'm applying to accept me: UVA, VA Tech, and Embry-Riddle (if i win the lotto)

I wish I would have tried harder at the beginning of the semester. I assumed that because the class was easy, the tests would be too. I got a couple of C's on Algebra tests for missing property questions. I have B's in a couple of classes and I'm trying to bring those up.

I wish I tried a lot harder freshman year, I'm only a sophmore now. But, I kno this is going to be the only thing [besides money] comeing inbetween me and a great college.
I've heard that freshman year isn't looked at to theroly[sp]. But I need to keep my grades were they are now throughout the rest of high school to have any chance to go to a good college..

I know what you mean, I'm only a sophmore but when I was on my way into highschool I thought to my self that I really had to try if I wanted to got to college, I did horrible in middle school, my freshman year I did great, high honors 3/4 quarters, honor once, but I'm getting stressed this year because I'm not doing that great, I'm not trying to put the blame on my teachers, but most of them suck this year, I have, uhhh.... like 4 teachers I like this year and that classes I do good in, and those include my electives and gym.

Yes i wish i had tried harder. My freshmen year has killed my GPA. Freshmen year i had 80 average and was happy about that. But after that... i hit the books a little more. Next 2 years were 90+. Now trying to get into colleges my Gpa is being killed by that freshmen year. So for you Freshmen out there DONT SLACK OFF.

Of course. Im in my junior year too, hovering around a 3.6 or something like that. Im kinda in this predicament of colleges, with a few really top notch schools that I've got little chance at now, and then a lot of lower level schools that I know I can make it into.

But if you're looking to still get into a good college, check out collegeboard.com and look at the admissions page for colleges. That shows you what each college looks for in an applicant, and sometimes grades arent the most important thing. I know my only possible saving grace foir the naval academy is that they stress the difficulty of courses and test scores far more than grades. Theres another school im looking at that also hardly looks at grades. Find yourself a school like that, and be able to compensate in one area fopr shortcomings in another.

Nope. No regrets. I had a good time, and still got into all of the colleges applying to (state and private). I didn't slack off terribly, but high school's not tough, and you don't need to be a scholar to get in.

so far yes, my freshman year i slacked big time. i missed the first 2 games of the season cuz i got an F in history for the 2nd quarter, and almost missed the last 15 but i got my gpa for the quarter up to a 1.77. my cumulative as of my soph year (now) is a 2.2. but this quarter im getting a 3.2 and im actually really smart, and i love tests compared to anything else. so colleges but my senior year my sats should be pretty high and my gpa should be around a 3.2 or a 3.3

heck yes. I'm in my first year of University. Honestly it seems that no matter how hard you try in highschool, you'll still find it to be an undaunting task. Between studying, and going to class and sleep and more studying and work im pretty much dead and theres like no time to see the girlfriend. Although shes in the same boat. But yeah, it seems like the kids who were top of our class last year are stuggling and the kids who were average in highschool are stugglign even more, for the most part. I have friends doing great but they are taking joke classes, where as im in calculus, physics, computer science, english and design in engineering right now. Honestly try your hardest in grade 11 and grade 12(junior and senior years). Often they will look at your marks in grade 11 and then your grade 12 marks are just there for them to make sure your right for the school. Anywyas moral of the story is work your butt off now and it will pay off when you get to post secondary education because if you have good study habits going in you will do fine. That was another problem of mine. I blazed through highschool without studying. Im S.O.L. now tho but im still getting by.

I slacked off my frosh and soph years. The sad part is the classes were not even hard and it wasn't a lack of understanding. It was the hw and in class work i didnt try enough on :( But Jr. year is off to a great start and online classes areh helping. Hoping to jump from 2.833 cumlative to 3.3 by end of year.

I kind of wish i did. But also those collegeboard.com and siteslike that arent right at all. It depends on what school you go to and e.c's stuff like that. Im a junior and just got my grades today and i have a 3.0 on the dot and i got a 1930 on the SAT. But by the end of the school year im trying to improve my gpa to like 3.2 and SAT 2000+

With a big enough donation, a 2.4 might get you into Yale........Yale could use an international airport, you know!

Just for the record, I will personally tutor anybody, no matter their GPA, for an international airport.
