Hi,

I restrung my new e3 recently with hardmesh, and thats when I really thought about doing a custom on my "backup" a pinched ripper - I decided to try a mesh-x. this is my first attempt on a custom pocket - please keet that in mind. Also, I screwed up the bottom - no coils there, I just tied it off, like you would on a normal mesh pocket. One last thing: this is an exceptional ugly pocket - and I don't even know how it'll throw - I'm gonna find out in saturday. I hope the channel works like its supposed to.

Any tips, hints, for my next try or improvements for my current mesh-X? Also whats the difference between the corner pocket and the mesh-x in terms of accuracy and durability?

looks good for a first -- a lot for shooters? just tighten some stuff up

It looks great for a first try, and it looks symmetrical, but there are a couple things that I noticed. First, there is no top strung. There should be a string running through the loops of the outer leathers connection the mesh to the scoop, so it won't slip down or effect anything.
Also, your coils on the outsides are a bit excessive. You could easily take 2-3 coils off of every connection to the leathers.
You may have too many shooters too. I would jsut have a single nylon across the top, and maybe 3 max, skipping a row of diamonds after every string.

you need to clean those coils up. They should look like this | not like this (

you need a topstring to hold the mesh to the scoop

you need to interlock your knots correctly, look at this tutorial for instructions
http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=52264

besides that it actually looks great.

Guys, thanks for your time and replies

regarding the topstring and the megacoils - I strung this pocket using the e-lacrosse tutorial (http://e-lacrosse.com/stech26.html) and as far as i can see they don't use a topstring, instead they use the loop of the leather to hold the mesh up - BUT I just looked at the pocket and its slowly coming loose - so I will definitley add a topstring there - shouldn't be too much of a problem I hope...

The coils... since I had no idea I just took the number of coils from e-lacrosse... obviously 8-10 wraps are way too many for a pinched head - I didn't think of that while stringing. Actually - until I read this I figured it was supposed to look like this. Hm. It shure doesn't look good - bent and all that - but I think it doesn't interfere with the ball movement. I will pay attention to that next time!

Shooters - yeah MANY shooters. I started at the top with 3 shooters - too much whip - I added them one by one and after the sixth the amount of whip was alright. Not too much, but enough for a good sidearm crank.

Since I wont be able to try it out until the weekend - what are your experiences with this pocket or the corner pocket... does the channel work?
And am I missing anything if I don't have the bottom coils strung to the mesh?!

my biggest tip would be look at pictures of well strung mesh-x's. you have the basic concept, but you are missing some important details.

heres one i strung recently

wow! that is impressive - I just realized some of the mistakes about the interlocking nots and the count of wraps for the coils. mdawg and shermanlax your pictures make want to string everything all over again - unfortunately I'm out of stringing kits - so I will have to order some more stuff...

Mdawg - how does your mesh-x throw?

Edit: I'm redoing it right now - could be done tonight, probably by tomorrow. thanks for your input - I'll repost once I'm done (yes, I'm a pain in the arse, I know).

Hi, I already re-strung the head as far as I could - I had to use the already cut nylon and I ran a bit short of string on the connection between the coils and the soft mesh. Also I'm not quite sure if I interlocked the "diamonds" with the coils correctly. But All in all it looks better now I think - because of your comments. I already took pictures, but I can't find that damn USB cable. I did not forget you guys - you will get the pictures and I hope to get some more feedback. I'll keep you posted. Let's just hope it doesn't rain tonight or tomorrow, so I can use it in practice and see how it throws. I'm excited to say the least. Later!
