Im in 7th grade, 4'11" and played goalie last year for my team. i was alright but i had no strategy and had no clue how to block shots taken from the crease. I still have no clue. This year im going to be playing also with 8th graders. I need a strategy.

wait as long as you can till you see the ball leave the stick and make ur move\
if u stay still they will have to use what angle u gave them. then it ur are placed in the cage correctly then you should be money
also, if you guys could give me some pointers not just strategies.

Basically a player should score from the crease most of the time, but to maximize the chances of a stuff or close-in-save, try these:
- Move towards the crease to cut off the angle, but don't lunge out at the shooter
- Make your stance a little taller/bigger
- Watch the ball/stickhead, not the shooter's eyes
- Mirror the shooter's stick with yours

basically OldGoalie said the jist of it...
make sure you yell at your defensemen for letting that pesky attackman on the crease wide open

Don't just yell, bring the whole defense together after a goal that shouldn't have happened and decide what went wrong, and what you should do next time. Not only will you begin to work better together, it shows alot of leadership and I'm sure the coach will notice and appreciate it.

communication is key, always keep your cool, never let a shooter see your emotions after a goal, gives them the upper hand.

just a few words...actually 1 is my motto...anyway...NO FEAR, and STEP. dont be afraid to take the hard shot and always step to the shot, if you step, especially on close encounters, you will cut the angles and have an opportunity to lay the shooter out.

The problem about that is im kinda small and the defence men dont really respect me. On a game the other team got 3 goals on me doing the excact same thing. they lured the defence men out then got a break away and took a shot right from the crease. when i said to my main defence men who is a giant, "who was there" he just yelled at me to shut up and said its my job to defend the goal. i was going to say some thing back but i decided not to because he is so big. what can i do to get my defences respect?

make 3 or 4 big stops, show them that you deserve their respect. if you make 4big stops poles start thinking that your at least half decent and therefore show you respect. or what ivge learned is Dmen are like girlfriends, just appoligize and say their right and your wrong.

TOTALLY AGREED talk to your defense even if they score on you because it was the defense mans fault say hey guys good job but try this dont yell WHAT THE HECK YOU WERE ON HIM GOD! encourage them make them respect you and talk to them tell them where the ball is call check or else they cant help you but, on one on one situations stand tall dont comeout and step and jump do whatever but you will probobly save 1/10 on luck unless the shooter makes the error they want you to come out let them get nervous and over run the shot

ya, tell them you have to stick to the play, the setup, the pattern, formation, watever you want to call it. when you do make a few big saves, people will start listening to you and actually working. its in part that the D doesnt listen because they know they will score on you...PROVE THEM WRONG.
