Is the new STX lighter than the older grey one or are they the same weight?

It's getting tougher to find a solid shaft for box lacrosse anymore. My son uses both a Warrior Fat Boy and an old STX Ti. Even at age 15 he's gone through so many shafts it's ridiculous(since I'm the one paying for them). I consider these two shafts the standard for durability.
You can keep trying the latest lightweight designs or order a real box titanium shaft that they make for the Canadian market and be happy for the long term. I suggest you pay a little more for a thicker walled shaft, plus one with the shape where it has those ridges on the corners for extra strength rather than the plain round design, and get used to the weight. This new STX Ti looks like it might not stand up and I bet they still charge alot because it's got some titanium in it.
Look on E Bay for new old models of shafts. Or go with the composite shafts from Harrow. I remember when Harrow first started and people complained about the durability of their shafts. Now the mainstream companies are playing down to Harrow strenghts with weaker alloys and thinner walls to save money, and Harrow is coming up with stronger shafts in response to early complaints of breakage. It's pretty even now.

Swishy, It apears to me that laxmiddie is going to be using his shaft for field, judging by the location. So it the latest lightwieght design may be what he wants. Overall I'd try to find someone who has both, or email STX and ask them maybe, I'm not sure what to tell you.

the old stx ti is lighter. I got one not too long ago from my cousin who used to play. Trust me the old one is a beast.
