OK, i am a complete noob at lacrosse and am asking for a few quick gear tips/overviews.

first thing is i WILL NOT be buying anything exclusive or extremely pricy, because i dont wanna be the sucky deouch with nice gear.

for a guy my size i imagine i will be playing mid/attack so am thinking about this gear.....(flame away)

shaft = STX Vandium (45 bucks)

gloves (which will be pretty nice, cause ive heard its very important) = either A. STX CHoppers or B. Warrior Hypnos.

Helmet = Cascade CLH2

Shoulder Pads = Id like to find the cheapest pads that allow the most mobility, something about this price. A. STX Chopper B. Warrior Hitmen (not sure which version)

Arms Pads = STX Stingers (mainly because they are cheap, and seem very similar to my paintball pads (dye))

i didnt put a head because i really need to go try those, this is just for a general idea of some good/cheap products.

help is greatly appreciated.

hmm you can check laxstore.com, qclax.com and laxshopper.com for mostly price comparisons and do your narrowing down that way, and just search for someone who has a Vanadium im pretty sure one guy has it

the pads and gloves im not so sure about

well i dont know too much about the vanadium but it seems like a good choice...you could also try the warrior platinum alloy which is good for the money (very cheap on qclax) gloves I would go with the choppers. I had the hypnos and really did not like them, they were not flexible at all, and took forever to break in. For shoulder pads, the hitmans are deffinitely a great choice. For arm pads I would not get the stingers. I have a pair and they are very restricting. Try to find a pair that are more than one piece, if you know what i mean, like the warrior mpg's. They will give you some much-needed flexibility for attack/mid

To get these I would just look around on the web. When I buy stuff I usually get it from either qclax.com or lacrossedigest.com which seem to have the best prices out there (and lacrossedigest has free shipping!).

cheap pads are the brine spartans and they work good and have a lot of mobility

helmet is solid, but pretty much anything else you buy is all preference, every company has low-middle-high end equipment depending on your play style so go with whatever you think looks the best or will help you perform to the best of your ability, dont have some notion that people are going to judge you on what you buy, no one cares and its stupid to not buy something nice (if you can afford it and it will be beneficial) just because you think others will perceive you as a quote, "sucky deouch".

I agree, the Brine Spartans are good shoulder pads and they only cost about $37. You may also want to check out the Warrior Hitman or MPG shoulder pads for more protection. I have the Warrior Hypnos myself and are very comfortable. They don't have very good ventilation, but in my case the sweat from my hands makes the grips on the gloves very nice. The gloves also are very easy to break in. As a beginner, you might not want to buy a helmet if you can get one from your school team but if you want the HL2 is fine. Are pads, you'll want to get ones that cover your entire forearm that isn't covered by the bicep pads on the shoulder pads and the gloves. As a shaft, you should check out the Warrior Platinum Alloy or the Kryptolyte, both are inexpensive and will last you a long time. As for a head try and find one with a hider head. Try them out and see which ones you can catch and throw with easily while not sacrificing ball control.

Vanadium is a great shaft, holds up well and it's pretty darn light. Great shaft for the price, you might also be interested in warrior's platinum alloy.

any shaft thats CU31 will work like a charm for a new player untill it breaks (they lasted me a while). sholder pads=mpg 5.0s I THINk. they are black with silver pinstripes, pretty basic, i took my bicep protectors off and i think they are great. arm pads=try and see if you can get a cheap pair of ventilators, they are comfortable and they are really mobile. last but not least, your head. i would suggest either a warrior Evolution or Revolution (depending if you want a flexible, tight head (evo) or if you want a strong and widehead (revo), and try to steer away from Warriors new crap.

oh and as far as gloves go- i would go with defts if you can get them cheap.

Some people have mentioned the warrior platinum, and I have to back them up, I've been using one on d and its a very nice shaft. Light enough that I can control checks, strong enough to make em count.

Also padwise, if you're looking for a chea, high mobility set of pads, check lax.com's choices. Theres a set of pads in there made by adams(yes the football company) meant as football pad liners that you can use for lax. I would double check your league regulations though first. I picked mine up for 25 there, and they're incredibly mobile. If you need to buff them up in certain areas, it's simple enough using pieces of foam taken from a garden kneeling pad($.99 at any home depot/lowes) and empolyed in the right places.

well...heres my suggestion. if you go to www.lacrosse.com they have a sale section. in this you basicly find good gear from a year or two ago at steals of price. they have heads gloves shoulder pads, some arm pads. I would suggest looking there, but basicly dont really worry about your gear as a beginner cuz chances are after a season or two you'll want to upgrade.
