Craziest save you've ever made

i was inspired to start this thread by a save i had last weekend at a fallball game

i was playing my freind's team and their defenseman threw it straight down to him on attack for a clear n he was running to the goal all alone. i dopped to my knees just screwing around as he was running towards me n when he went to dunk it over my head i caught it right out of his stick.. he scored on me twice during that game but that save made up for it.

i know how much us goalies love remembering our sick saves so do share

attackman on a fastbreak, one v one. went off stick from about 4 yards and i snatched it, lost controll he caught it in the hair and hit my chest, then another attackman grabbed that rebound and got my right theigh, i picked it up from the crease, made a sick clear.

i know that's more than one. but it was a combo =)
and a painful one at that.

Eh there is a "Most Memorable Save" thread, but whatever.

I'm playing in indoor, and this really good defender runs around the crease, trying to dunk the ball. He's something like 6'11" or so, so I just jump straight up. I stuff him, but the follow through basically knocks me back into the net. That was a fun one. There are more, but I'm too lazy to write about them.

2 on one, 2 attack verses me. i was facing the better attackman on the crease and then he passes it to his teammate on the otherside of the crease. i made a form move to the other side of the cage and i picked it off stick low.

I was pionting with my left hand to a defender to make a crease slide and I only had one hand on my stick and I wasn't paying attention and I saved a laser from about ten yards out off stick with one hand.

1. i had just cleared to one of my middies and his shot missed and ended up in teh stick of an opponent d, so he passed it to his atk and he came in, dodged my crease and one of my other d, and got a 1 on 1, tried to shoot 5 hole, and i got down in time and saved it, from 3 feet away(edge of crease from goal line). then 10 seconds later, the horn blowed, and that was the end of that
2. my d deciced to suck and not clear anything so the other teams offense was passing around until they got a sneak atkman around the back of the crease, the passed across the middle to him...while another atk man went to the other side of the crease...he faked me out and passed it to him, and that atkman jumped and tried shooting and my stick went right over his and i caught it...it was a perfect across crease pass and i bloacked the shot
3. this was a funny one...i was messin around with the ball cuz i was up like 8 goals in the 4th...so i was cradling around and i swung back and hit the post and the ball came out right infront of the crease and an attackman scooped it up before i could and i took my stick and just covered his and said "stay down, *****" ad forced his stick down and took the ball from him...and yes, i got a tech for it becasue of language.

I don't really remember alot of crazy saves in games. I know I've definitly made alot of kick saves somehow which are always sweet.

I know I've had girls rollin around the crease thinkin they were hott and just STUFFED them, made them look foolish. It's awesome.


But my craziest save is always playing with the boys. They aren't crazy, but they feel like it. The guys always roll around the crease like hott stuff, and I just stuff them and send them away lookin foolish. Pretty much any save playin with the guys is crazy!!

I reamember in middle school, my 8th grade year. I made a diving save. What happend was The shot hit off of the top of my stick and was rolling around outside the crease behind the net. I went back to grab it, but when I got there, the X-man grabed it before me and went and fed it from X for a 1Xmer. I bolted from behind the net and dove in froint of the net and it hit off of my chest. It was amazing, or just lucky, that it even hit me at all.

Ive made a few mad saves with the shaft of my stick....pretty lucky. and it was me and two attackmen. X brought it around the cage and i poke checked him in the arm... he passed to crease man who quick sticked it... i dove for the save, stood up and the ball was in my stick... That was pretty sick..........

i had one where I had a stick save where the ball bounced out of my pocket, right back into the shooter's stick, and he tried to shoot low, and i just kicked it out of there.

i had one where the player was on a break away and my team wasnt even close to getting back.. the player shot and it hit me.. but i dived for the shot so i was way out of my crease.. they picked it back up and went around to the front of the net and shot but i stuck my hand up and snatched it out of the air.. i was like stunned i didnt think i stopped it.

Last weekend at FallFest in CT, I ran for a loose ball, picked it up and passed it to a team mate. A beastly girl snatched it out of the air as I was about 4 yards away, passed it to a teammate in front of the goal. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I did a full out dive and the ball hit me in the mask. I then did a face plant into the ground and my neck cracked mad crazy.

first one, guy was shooting from a pretty extreme angle downward at the goal from close up, the ball bounced up and got caught in my shorts
second one, attackman got fed right on the crease and i go out and nail him right as he turns to shoot. knocked off his feet, one of his cleats left on the ground, knocked the wind out of him
third one, was being stupid and had gone coast to coast once already in the game and wanted to do it again. lose the ball at about midfield, sprint back towards the goal just ahead of the attackman that had it. he shot from way out, i managed to catch it backhanded while running in front of him backhanded

last year i had a save that wasn't really a save, it was more of a prevent. so the x-man gets right up on the crease and no one is gaurding him and thenhe gets a feed from behind the net. as he is about to shoot i realize i have no chance so i poke him in the chest as hard as i possibly can. the reflex made him kinda toss the ball towards me but it bounced off my helmet and i snatched it and cleared it.

this summer in a tournament at umass some kid got a clear and came in on 1on0 and was faking high than low for a wicked long time than he went low 5 hole and i fell back and stopped it was cool

I have another one now. It was indoor and there was only me and a kid on the other team with the ball. So he runs up to the crease and goes for 5-hole. I drop to my knees and the ball bounces right off my cup and back into the kid's stick. It was a pretty hard shot, so I doubled up a little from the pain. He then tries to dunk it over my head, so I throw my stick up blindly in the air, and stuffed him.

one game I was playing on some turf fields, got a low to high shot tipped it ran back to chase it down not knowing an attackman caught itoff the delection it was a one on one race back to the goal we were both coming from behind, he fed it to a cutting man i slip from pipe to pipe for a stuff. AMAZAZING lol nd yes i know how to spell amazing!

this attackman is coming down the field so it's one of those 1 on 1 things and it looked like he was going to do a bounce shot so I flip my stick (you know when your trying to block a bounce shot and the end of the shaft is where the head is supposed to be vise versa) and it turns out he did not do a bounce shot and it was going to go over my head so when I am trying ot get back up the butt end of my shaft blocks the ball and I stop it and clear it.

ok 1st game i ever played (2 months ago lol) im in the cage and probably looking like a big noob :ahhno:. So anyway i let 2 in. Then a one on one situation popped up and im freakin out. The attackman comes up to my left like 5 feet from the crease and i just ran out and compleatly stuffed the kid. My whole team and some of the other team were all like OHHHHHHHH. Yeah thats my experience with a semi-crazy save.

This past summer in summer league, playing the best team in the league (we weree second). So an attack or middie (don't remember) is standing basically point blank on the crease just standing there throwing fakes. He's also at least 4 inches taller than me so he fakes high as the D comes at him (finally) and I jump up. But he shoots it low and hits my feet as I jump the fake. Everyone there was all "OHHHHH!"

But we still lost :(

i made a cool one about a month ago, i came up to try to close the angle on a two on one in indoor and the man with the ball that i was focused on passed it to the man on the crease, who had a wide open goal. i dove across and made the save. i got lucky the man on the crease didn't quick stick it but took a second instead giving me time, but it was cool

i don't play goalie but one practice i was just messing around and the shooter shot high, but i went for the 5 hole save and the ball hit the butt end of the shaft. it was cool cause the shooter was one of the better on the team.

one time there was a scrum in front of the cage with bodies everywhere and i ended up on the ground with a D man and a middie in the crease on the floor with me (the middie was on my team) and the ball ended up top center so i reached my hand out and caught it

im not a goalie, but last year i we were man down and i was playing point when the guy cranked it in when i thought he was going to dodge. it was coming straight at me, so i just ducked down and threw my hands up and i punched the ball out of midair. it was incredible. i have g-force gloves and it cracked the plastic, but whatever. it was amazing. some people started calling me The Highlander.

2 days ago i had a diving one indoors on my coachs windup. i was behind the crease because i just cleared it, he got another ball, then went to wind up and i got around and dove and got it, in my stomach and then clamped it.

I'm sure everyone knows that in girl's lax when the whistle blows, no one can move. Well I'm a rookie and forgot that, I went to go for the ball but another girl beat me to it. So I'm stuck behind the goal and all I was thinking was "Crap, one good pass, and I'm screwed." The whistle blew, I hauled my a** and by whatever luck I possesed (sp?) that night, the ball bounced off the head of my stick. And a girl went to go in for a garbage shot as close as she could get, to scare me. I shut her out so bad, but I was kinda surprised.
(FYI this was only in practice, so it wasn't as intense.) But they just did a quick play, so I could feel what it was like to be shot on after everyone passed the ball to eachother.

in a fall game, my team was playing a team comprised soley of seniors and we are sophmores. anyway, it was a three on one and i kind of stepped to the ball, and he shot it but i deflected it and it popped out of my stick because it was new mesh. and then another attackmen rebounded it on the other side of me and like lightning my stick just kind of went to that side like out of reaction. and though it doesnt sound cool, it looked ballin. we lost the game 14-5 (i let in 5 of the goals) but it was awesome

in a fall tourney in december. It was 7 v 7 so there was alot of open shots. the attackman was coming around the right side of the crease and i was hanging on the pipe. The attackman faked low offside hip so i dropped down and then he went high so i punched my bottom hand at the ball and hit it with my shaft. It broke my shaft about a foot from the but end. I took off my but end and put in on what was left of my shaft and played through the rest of the game with a mini stick.

I had run up the field on a clear break. I juked out two middies and was near the other teams crease. I shot and it hit off the goalies shin. I sprinted back to my crease with my coach yelling at me that the other team is driving down the field. Just as I'm near the crease I see one of their middies shoot out of the corner of his eye. I dove back into the crease and caught it dead in the center of my pocket. I couldn't breath after that so the back-up goalie went in, but it was the most awsome feeling. :D

There was this one time (box lacrosse) where one of the opponents was standing right on the edge of my crease, completely alone, and had all the time in the world with perfect control. He tried at first to deak me out, but I stayed right with him and never jumped out. Then he shot it low on my right side, and I somehow got my glove (which was holding the stick) on it to deflect it away.

Then about a minute later, one of them shoot, and it squeaks past my pads. I look behind me, and I find the ball trickling into the net. Then I just instantly turn around and dive. I stopped the ball with my stick directly on the line. I actually had a really bad knee this game, so before the game started, the coach stressed to my defence that they should be shutting down the opposing offense and let me have a break for once with my bad knee (I've been constantly bombarded during the season). Well, turns out I still had to make some awesome saves.

Last sunday (for box) I was goin in goal for the 2nd half and the score was tied 6-6 and there was a break away and it was 1 on 1 and the girl shot low stick side and i was pretty..i dont wanna say scared..haha but yeah a little nervous cuz it was a really close game and i didnt even move my stick down i just moved my leg over a bit and kicked it away basically.. But it didnt really even do anything cuz she was in the crease so i got the ball anyway..but i thought it was pretty sweet.

By the way we ended up winning 14-12=D and now we're in the playoffsss tomorrow!!=D

In indoor i took the ball up and passed it. It got picked off so I started backpeddaling back twords the goal but still keeping my eye on the ball. He shot it while i was backpeddaling and i got a piece of the ball enough to stop it from going in. It felt asome because he probly had someone to pass to but wanted the goal for himslf. at the jamboree in weston two weekends ago the ball was right in front of the creece and there was a big scramble for the ground ball and the attackmen quickly scooped it up and as he did i left the cage dropped my shoulder and matched our sticks as he was shooting and i laid him out. Those are the best saves. Other crazy saves are when i save it with my cup becuase the people on the sidelines always think im a warrior and fearless barbarian as i dont even flinch

Running the clear up to the restraining line pass to the d-man he tries to pass it to a midde at mid field. It was picked off. I start back pedalling and it turned into a 1 on 1 in the middle of the box. Stuffed him right there as he tried to dump it over me. Next time out coach told me not to go up that far.

haha today actually me and a friend were shooting around and she shoots it and somehow it rolled up the leg of my shorts and actually got stuck for a second in the part right below the band of elastic. it was so funny. And then Stuffing people is awesome, i just love the look on their face.

this isnt a save but i had to add it. the othr day at practice people were shooting on me and i missed it and it hit a post and then wailed me in the booty, it was not a pleasant experiance, but its pretty funny now

i had some amazing saves during my end of the year tournament. My first save was a kid coming around the crease he tries to jump and i like pokes his stick it completely misses the goal and goes out of bounds. My next save that i thought was amazing was it started raining really really hard a big attack man then a middie comes running down on a fast break with out being touched he winds up takes the shot i block it with but end of my shaft(top corner shot) and it shoots off into the crowd i got so pumped after making that save

in Dallas playing, some dude from SMU rips a top right corner (off-stick) I dont know why but I turned my head down towards the ground and just sent the ball out of bounds off my shaft. The kid told me he hated me as he ran by chasing the ball.

ive got two.
1: an middie came down on a fast break, split two of my D and from about 10 yards out shot bottom right corner(low off stick), and it was a fast shot, i was surprised i got there in time.
2: in a playoff game i went 1 on 1 with an attackman, he faked stick high, then faked off stick high and went back to stick side high and i stuffed him. we both looked into my head in amazement, and when i cleared it he told me that it was an amazing save.

Ok so there was this amazing attackman who had only been saved on a few times this year (3 times, so the majority, by me). A 1 on 1 develops near the center of the field, they win a big groundball scrum and pass it to him. He burns my point d, who was playing way too high up, and is sprinting towards me. He gets near the crease and goes off stick side low. With that much momentum, I knew I wouldn't have time to get my stick over there. So I just go all hockey goalie on him (Even though I don't play hockey lol) and drop into butterfly position. Ends up amazing shin save. Even I was suprised. That was a big momentum turn for that game for me, and I had 19 save game or something. He got back at me though, he got through my d and scored a couple of goals at the crease off of some filthy fakes.
Also, during practice a few weeks ago, this pretty good attackman gets to the crease (My d sort of has a problem with that :nahya: ). I meet him, but for some reason didn't push him or anything, so all he has to do is get his stick around me. But instead, he rips it 5 hole and somehow my body just reacted itself and dropped to the ground, stopping the shot. Yet somehow I let shots like that through at 12 yards, but at 3 feet I managed to stop it.

my first game ever there was a breakaway with 10 seconds left , we wer up 5-4 and hes a foot outside the crease so i charged him but i fell for his fake, he went to slam dunk it but i stuck my stick over his shoulder and the ball knicked my frame and went wide. it was such a great feeling

a few days ago i had another one of the wrap around from the back of the net diving saves, and it hit my mask and it was kinda weird when i fell down. i was happy as hell that i saved it, but i felt so shaken up, no concussion from impact and landing but just shaken up because of that. it was awesome to do that, i havent done one of those since like march.

A couple years ago, an attackman got the cross-feed on the fast break, and there were NO defenders within 12 yards of him. It was a close game, and he wanted to score a big goal, so he must have done at least 8 or 9 fakes. I was on the ground after his 5th or 6th fake, and after I hit the ground, I just shot my stick up in the air--in perfect time to make the stuff of my life.

We won the game by one goal, and even though I had a number of solid saves that day, my teammates never let me hear the end of that one...

I'm a starting defender, and a definite 2nd string goalie next season. Our goalie last year made a crazy save. I was off of the crease and the man beat another defender, came within about 4 feet from the crease, ripped a shot. Our goalie did a full fledge split, put his stick up and the ball hit his shaft. We ended up winning 6-5.

my best save was when i cleared it to my defender and then he got checked and dropped it, then the other teams best attack man picked it up and came charging at me. i was out of the goal so i had to start back peddeling towards the goal to stay in front of him. i ran up to the midfield line clearing, passed it to an attackmen, he dropped the ball, i had to run alllllll the way back to the goal and just as i turn i stuff someone

At a tournament I was at 2 weeks ago, I ran to x with my d men, trying to pin down a weak attackmen. He passed to person on crease who shot it and I dived and saved it. I cleared it and it was a fast break goal.

Another one is against my rival school. Its a fast break, offensive attackmen on the left has it. A pure 1 on 1 with nobody near him. He shoots, I save, he gets rebound. Tries to flick it in, I save and it goes over net. He runs to x gets ball and sneaks around to my right, shoots and gets stuffed again. My d men eventually get the ball and clear it.

soooooooo guys im a gymnist afterall and i can do some crazy things, i ran out of the goal like a monkey on a fast break and they intercepted my gorgous pass and i did back flips back to my goal, and they shot and it hit my big left toe and recochade into their goal, im just such a beast

1. im a small kid im thirteen and about 4"9 so i was playing at the getaway summer lax tourney in alexandria va at episcopal high school one on one with mdy about 5"7 walks down cranks it right in my sick after i jumped a little and2
2. playin fall ball commited to one guy to soon and he dumped it across the net idove across and stopped him but it was pretty lucky

2. the ball went so fast it ripped a hole in my pants and went up. i had to take off the pants during the game and take out the ball to clear it!!

feild: I had just made a save and went out of the net about 20 feet, and i got hit then this middie got the ball and passed it to a kid in front of the net so i gunned it and i was almost at the net when he took a shot so i dove and reached as far as i could with 1 hand and caught it right infront of the goal line.

my coach was screwing around with me at practice and h shoots something like 90 it was only my second day in goal and he cranked it and i stuffed him it felt so good

In the Vail shootout in 2007, my team was playing Colorado Select. Their goalie had the ball behind at x, and our player took it from him. He passed it to a player wide open, right on the crease. He tried to flip the ball into the goal, but out of nowhere their goalie came and dove in front of the goal. While the goalie was diving in midair, he reached out and saved the ball. It was incredible.

i were playing a team a year older than us. i lost the ball behind the goal and the attackman passed on the crease. the guy goes for a quick a quick stick and right as he shoots i jump/dive and take the shot head first. i broke my helmet but it was all worth it!!:grin:

im not a goalie, but last year i we were man down and i was playing point when the guy cranked it in when i thought he was going to dodge. it was coming straight at me, so i just ducked down and threw my hands up and i punched the ball out of midair. it was incredible. i have g-force gloves and it cracked the plastic, but whatever. it was amazing. some people started calling me The Highlander.

ha we have a kid on our team last year that we called the highlander. he would do this dodge that was a mix of face/roll and swung his stick over his head. mad sick.


my sickest save wasn in a game, but rather in the tennis courts 4v4 with my buddies playing on a no-practice day [few and far inbetween]. so the ball comes around back and i move to hit the guy and he passed it off to one of his teammates up top and he had this huge opening. it was like the red sea parting. anyways he cranked a bouncer and it hit the court about 15ft out and i was right there on point to save it and it hits and bounces hard to the left and i move up my left hand still on the stick and punch it with my glove. pure luck. but it was silly nice.

ok. This past summer in a game...i make the stupid decision to run the ball up the field. Im 300 lbs at that. So i get the ball taken away from me by a middie. he passes it to an open attackman down like 10 yards away from the crease. as im sprinting back, i throw my stick up behind me and i bring it down and the ball is in the. i start laughing and throw a clear. Then this past weekend at a fall ball tourney, i get completly toasted by this one sick attackman and he shoots offstick low. i kick my foot out and i kick it out of bounds. it was a good day

The best save/clear i have ever made, came in the closing seconds of a tight game last year. We were up by a goal and time was running down, the ball found its way to my stick and i looked up to clear and end the game. I tried to face dodge an attackman, but the ball popped out and he caught it, turned and fired a pass to his man sprinting alone towards the crease, i spun around and dove back into the crease, superman style with my stick out, caught the ball and ran back up the field for another attempt to clear. I was quickly cornered by three guys and the sideline, and upon reaction whipped a behind the back pass to one of my attackman to seal the victory.

today i was at a tournament and there was a scrum near the back of the net that i was in and some retard like jacked my stick out of my hand and someone passed it to the front of then net and i ran over with no stick and caught it with my hands soccer style and chuck it down the field with my hand. i got an illegal touching penalty though...
