In practicality, you'd get away with 38" most of the time.....no random checks, and coaches only call checks during high-stakes playoff games.

That's overall stick length right? not shaft length which was d.cow's question.

Yeah but heads vary in length so the overall stick length is what people go by.

it also depend how old you are aswell.......there are different lengths requirements for different age groups.

Yeah, overall stick length.

So with a typical head at 10" plus or minus, a 30 to 36" shaft will be close to legal.

You are right, the rules only specify overall stick length so it depends on the length of the head.
