Yeah, today at practice we had a little scrimmage going on and I was a goalie on one team and "Attackman17" was a goalie for the other team. He did not have any pads on... :wow: Well somehow he turned around in the goal or something and someone took a fast shot to the goal and it smacked him in the back of the head full force (he had no helmet on) I don't know how... but he kind of walked it off... I heard the smack of the ball hitting his head from across the field where my goal was.. so did everyone else on the field... I don't know how you could walk it off... I would be like Peace out that's it for me today.

People that go to CHS: Then after he left everyone shot on me and I got my ****in arm pratically blow off from Gabriel - you might know him... (Fastest shooter) I have a massive bruise now... My thighs got hit each like at least 4 times full force.

After "Attackman17"left we agreed he tied with the number 1 goalie injury
-Him getting smacked in the back of the head
-Our other goalie got a shot in the balls full force last season by our coach.. who is like 20yrs old.

Yeah I don't know how he's doing now cuz he left practice a little early... maybe some advil would help him out...

Nah nothing.. I think he had gloves.. Im not sure. We just started practices so he probally didn't think we would have that many people. Yea but it was bad.. I mean people weren't slowing down their shots that much either. :jawdrop:

We just started practices this week, he probally didn't think we would actually be having a scrimmage... Well I don't really know. He will probally answer when he comes on. I think we would all get in trouble if our coach heard about this so.. I'm gonna ask everyone to bring their pads and helmets.. since we have a decent ammount of kids showing up now. Doesn't anybody else have like practices without a coach? Do you guys wear full padding helmets?

Me= as smart as this guy... :imparied:

(I had gloves...)

But, Its all good...I think, when it hit me it took a minute to figure out what happened, and where I was, and all that good stuff. (Hooray for mild concussions!)

And, Hooch, at least Brice (or however you spell it) did a few shots on the ground, as opposed to Ryan, who just considers me not having pads on as me having full pads on...

Was it that loud?

That smack was LOUD! I bet even those kids playing soccer heard it, I know all the lax players did cuz we ALL turned when we heard that. By the way hoochlacrosse, nice job just running up the field and scoreing when no one was paying attention

Oh yeah thanks that was amazing! you could had easily takin that from me! but I didn't have any pads on so you give me little taps on the arm which did nothing thanks! .. And I think I just ran right thru the crease too so it didn't really count... I wish I could do it in a real game. And yeah BTW Attackman17 I don't know why ryan was ****ing... shooting full force on you... that's really not acceptable when you don't have pads ...

Yeah but Gabe gave me his fastest shot from the crease and I blocked it... With my arm - now theres a massive bruise there.. I also have bruises all over my thighs- I guess this is what it's like to be a goalie - I can deal with the bruises though :chair:

Yep he got on my nerves last year and I have just learned to ignore it..You just have to learn to not let him get to you.. with his dirty checks etc etc... He doesn't ever do it to me or any of the Juniors-Seniors really. But me and the people who kind of run the practice will make sure we don't have that happening anymore.

I'm just glad I didnt break a jaw, or lose a tooth or 2. If the ball had been a few inches lower, IT probably would have loosened a tooth or 2.

Also, it was like right on my ear, not really the back of the head.

PS: Hooch, you have an AIM sn? I'm bored.

Mild concussion? **** that must have hurt.. I bet you were kind of dizzy too. If everyone heard the ball colliding with your head I would imagine something worse than a mild concussion :imparied: . I would also like to know how you walked it off.

Well I was on the other side of the field in the other goal... But I heard and saw the ball make contact with the side/back of his head... So I guess it hit your temple. I don't know how he walked it off but he did... So...what was the pain like? Did you feel it right away? and yeah were you feeling dizzy?

HAHA yeah I guess he did stagger it off, But he didn't drop down and get knocked out... Now that I think about it.. I think that ball should have knocked you out... if it hit you in the head that fast.

Wow, I'm wasting the big 4000
on this. :chair:

But, it was like near the templeish area. It felt like you would imagine a ball to the head at a decent speed would feel like. First, you feel the sting of the ball, then like a sort of force/pressure, and then you sort of get confused, and try to figure out wtf just happened, and all that good stuff...Oh yeah, then you sort of stagger off the field.

I got my hand all busted up tonight by one of our fastest shooters. The fact that it was like 40 degrees outside didn't help the pain. (I had on plain 'ol field gloves). I hope its just nastyly (um...don't ask about that one) painful bruise, and not and bone breakage or chippage.

my coach did somethin liek that before...last practice of season 2 yrs ago he shot on me indoors on laminated wood court and i got destroyed...the inside of both my thighs were completely black, blue and red...my arm was bruised badly, couldnt feel 1 hand and my other hands fingers, and he hit me in an exposed area by my ribs on a crank shot. sadly i had a game the next day.

Heres a little update on AM17's injury list...

Today I turned to chase a shot that I was nearly positive had missed the goal...
The ball comes out of the guys stick, and I could tell it was going a bit to the right of the goal...I go to chase it, but I left a bit early...Hits me about 2 inches to the right of the spine, a bit above the kidney area... I have one broken rib, and another possibly broken one.

This is true. 2 worst injuries I've gotten in a while...Only 5 days apart.
But, my getting nailed in the back counted as a save.

Eh youre really unlucky, and I feel bad for you cause I broke my foot during lax practice one day and I was on crutches for 4 weeks, now I've had the cast off for 2 weeks, and one more week to go before I'm fully recuperated so I can play again. It sucked. How long are you out for? But in the meantime, theres an indoor game tomorrow and Im playing goal instead (my first time playing goal ever). And when you broke your rib, were you wearing any pads, cause somehow all your injury stories are unprotected.

I was wearing my CP. It was in a game.
There is no pretty much no padding on the back of a goalie CP. Its like fighting a boss in a Zelda game. They're covered in armor, but have a weak spot.

And, My hand smashing was with full gear, just a really unlucky place to get hit.

I don't know how long I'm gonna be out. I want to play in a box or 3v3 league, or soemthing like that during the winter. But, that probably isn't happening now  :bawling:

But, I'm defiantly gonna be playing for tryouts and whatnot in January...And, I'll stand around at practices.

Pretty much the same thing I've been doing, going to practices and just watching so I know whats going on. And I was out for most of fall and it was ok the first week but then it just got incredibly annoying, good luck though.

wow i cant bielive that you teammates were still shooting hard onyou when you didnt have pads on, i understand if you were getting warmed up with like 40 mph shots. my coach would kill my whole team if he saw one person shoot on a kid with no pads.

I'm going to say the worst I've ever seen was when my backup goalie got a dislocated knee off a shot. Nobody wanted to move him, so we had an ambulance come onto the field and take care of him. He was on crutches for a while to say the least.

you have more of a chance gettin hit in the ribs by a stick on attack than you do in goal with a ball...ive taken just a few shots to my cp, most of my saves are with my stick and helmet.

Anyways, survival of the fittest. Sorry AM17 but if you're playing goal in a game where the shooters can put the ball over 50mph (if you're a trained goalie) and you're not wearing any sort of protective gear, you're an idiot at that particular moment in time.

I was at the time. I didnt expect the to be shooting like that. I was told just to go to throw and catch, and really didnt want to play.

LeKKeR
02-05-2007, 07:03 PM
no offense, but if you don't have any pads then don't step in net. it doesn't prove anything about how tough you are, just that you're putting yourself and your team in potential danger. if you were told to just throw and catch, then do that. stepping in net without pads on and taking shots would never fly in college. any coach would kill you if they saw that.

not telling you how to live your life, but imagine if you took a shot in the eye and went blind? (far fetch i know, but i'm just trying to make a point) high school kids aren't too smart.

anyway, back to the point. some bad goalie injuries i've seen...

-saw a kid get his cup cracked. he ended up losing a testicle. i'm not gonna go on about this one cause i'm about to cry thinking about it lol

-saw a guy (older man) in summer league take a point blank shot in the knee and let's just say his knee cap wasn't on his knee anymore

-my back up goalie broke his thumb from a shot. pretty gross

-i took a shot in the chest and managed to gather up the ground ball and start running toward midfield to clear. i suddenly realized i couldn't breathe cause my lungs filled up with blood which i promptly spit up as everyone stared in disbelief cause i was laughing (i'm a kickboxer...i'm used to shins and knees to my head)

-back in high school i saw this poor goalie come out of net and didn't see the GINORMOUS midfielder coming from his blindside. needless to say, the goalie left with a dislocated shoulder, broken collarbone, and mangled jaw after the hit heard around maryland

I was at a winter league game (watching) and I was standing with the team, because they gave up on caring. Anyway, a middie missed a pass and it was coming full force towards me. And I guess I forgot that I wasn't playing, and that I had a helmet & pads on. Stupid me, I stepped to the ball. Then realized too late, that "Oh wait, you idiot you're about to get bashed in the head." It hit me on the right side of my face, like my jaw. It hurt for awhile, had a bruise. Its better. But oh man, that was one of the dumbest ways for a goalie to get hurt.

EDIT-**Thought that I had a helmet and pads on
