whats harder to stop, a pole or a shortie

From up close, a shorty, because of the way they can fake and get off quick shots. From outside, it's close between poles and shorties, cause generally a pole will shoot faster than a shorty, but a shorty usually has more accuracy.

its a 50/50 because of the possibilities...shorties speak for themselves, cranking or trick shots, both are hard sometime....long poles are harder in my opinion just becasue of having to watch the high release in the sky and the sun.

i agree its a little harder to stop the long pole. its a little harder to follow, but its more that you arent used to it.

The few times that I've played with the guys, more shots from long stick players go in cuz I just get flustered and they confuse the heck out of me.

In close in shorty cause they can fake so much faster but from like an MLL 2 point range wow, its impossible to follow the ball with the long pole, you cant telegrapgh or ever just have ne sense of what its doing and they generally get the same speed if not more. Example Brodie Merril, youre not stopping that thing!

from what ive heard, the ball comes out different when poles shoot as opposed to middies a different trajectory as most have said, plus how many goalies do you know that practice getting shot on by longsticks??
and sure there is a valid argument for short sticks because of the quick stick and fakes but sometimes goalies can even stop those

I would definetely say a d-pole is harder, only because it is harder to pick up a shot from a defensemen than a short player, and from my personal experiences, they can shoot a lot harder and faster than an average shorty.

during practice i get shots from long poles...my coach was a long pole at duke and shoots on me in practice.

My point exactly. It all depends on how close you are to the goal. I'd like to see a longstick throw 3 fakes and then put one top shelf from behind the back with a coma slide coming at him.

its just the point that sometimes you cant see the release from the long pole which makes it difficult...at least with short sticks up close you can have some anticipation of where its going and do somethin about it.

I do agree with that. I'm not a goalie, but I can imagine that after getting shot on by shorties 49/50 times, a shot from a longstick would kinda catch you off guard and freeze you up, cause you have no idea how to react to it.

I'm going with the long pole as well, it's just tough to figure out what their going to do... It's such an odd thing to try and explain.. it's just "not right"

By just ''not right'' do you mean, it just isn't natural and you aren't used to seeing a shot coming from a pole, or something is completely different about their form and release of the ball?

i think its harder to save a shot from a shorty. with a long pole i feel like i already know where the shot is going and my stick is already there. i meant the stick is so big i feel like it telegraphs where the ball is gonna go.

poles are impossible to save. you can never tell when the balls gonna come out. and poles either have a ton of whip or none at all. i hate it when poles score. it has only happened to me once and it was in a summer league but i hate it when poles shoot

Both can be difficult given were the shot is coming from. Most poles whether they carry the ball usually or not, I have noticed lately, tend to short low rather than high. I assume is because they don't feel comfortable with they're accuracy so they just unload a shot low at the net. Although, the shots are usually faster, I've found them easier to save from farther out
