Ok so i was at the airport and i noticed a game of ckicket was on *sacastic yay* so being as bored as i was i bought a lemon lime bitters, sat down and had a gander at the game.

I think i saw a record crowd, there were 5 people in the crowd lol.

Now for the Question, how many people do you know who take the time out of their days to sit down and watch state cricket? Would it be more productive to put something else on fox sports or do you guys think cricket is a good option?

Anyways i dont know if this is a productive topic or anything but i hate cricket lol...

Sure you weren't watching the ashes?
If it's State Cricket it's mainly run so as a semi professional league where most of the money is taken in from One day games. For the Pura cup test matches, its more for cricket hardcores, many of whom may be involved in cricket at some level and also to develop future talent for our national team. I doubt if anyone specifically takes the day off to watch state cricket all though I'm positive many would have for the ashes. What else would fox sports show in the day? Surely cricket will have a bigger than following than the replay of a baseball match or nfl match or something. Obviously if they were playing MLL games every one would be happy and there would be no problem.
Cricket's a good sport, it's just not an aggressive sport. For me i don't really find it exhilarating but it's relaxing to watch and easy to just sit there watching it. Especially because we're the best.

You think State league cricket in Aus is poorly supported?

Try coming to england in april and watch some of the County Champs here....at least in Aus you probably wont get rained off!

I know a few who watch the domestic one-dayers, but not the 4 dayers.

If Twenty20 was on Free-to-Air I'd watch it.

i reckon the state games are not too bad to go watch. every now and then i head down with some mates to the WACA after work and watch some of the state games. the best one to go to is the international one dayers between the two "other" teams. this year it is england v NZ for us in perth. knock off work early, pick a random country, (windies in 04, sri lanka last year) and get blitzed in the glorious sunshine. and hurl abuse at whoever is playing. magnificent

i remember at the under 19 worlds/under 15 and 17s nationals in adelaide in 99 some dudes started a cricket game using their lax sticks and lax balls before the opening ceremony. All the internationals were somewhat in awe of this strange sport us aussies were playing, and even some yanks had a crack but could only bat baseball style. My point is this small on the spot game that was not even real cricket drew a bigger crowd than most domestic matches in australia-i reckon there were bout 200 people standing round cheering and clapping these two or three guys on, classic.

from what i've seen the domestic Twenty20 matches will be televised on channel 9 later on in the summer, i'll be watching as well. :loser:

I was at the Vic V's Qld, day nighter at the MCG a couple of days ago and there was more people in the Bar up on the 3rd level watching the game then in the seats. Exaggeration of course but there are twice as many ppl at the game then you see on the tv, because the cameras dont show the bar! There was obviously no big names in the teams because there all in adelaide except for Hodge and Symonds or Bichel and cameron white if you call then "big names" however it was just good to go to the Newly developed MCG and sink a few beers while watching state cricket. Vic's lost by 4 runs so a ****house result in the end but a good day overall.

i go to most games at bellerive in the members area. there are usually more people there than around the ground. lol. it depends on the match. most of tassie will come out and support ponting if he comes down to play but he never bats well for tassie anyway so its a let down
