hey guys, im planning on stringing another traditional, but had a question on leathers. i know people say to soak in water then stretch, which i have done, but what about rubbing on some baseball glove conditioner. i have heard minks oil and linseed oil but i dont have any handy, just some glove conditioner from my dad who plays softball. will this help stretch/weatherproof/break them in, or will it stiffen them up? thanks

btw i searched and found nothing definitive on this topic so sorry if it has been discussed before

It works, I've done it...It's perfectlyfine.
Make sure you rub it in very nicely.

I use glove conditioner on all my gloves..

okay im gonna go do it now, thanks

i'll report back with how it works out for me

update:

it is very messy and smells like something you shouldnt breathe in. i got this stuff everywhere, and probably used like 3 gloves worth on my shirt. however, my leathers are very very soft now, and feel real broken in. they did not stretch anymore however. and they dont look uniformly broken in, so i hope that doesnt make for an inconsistant pocket. oh well, hopefully it works out, stringing now.

im sure they will be fine once you naturally break them in.

yea im sure, the idea mostly caught my interest as a way to decrease the maintainance involved in using a trad., it'll be interesting to see how it works out
