Get your opinions from where it counts:

I am sure if you email them, they would be happy to supply some great info. Manitoba usually has a page in Lax Talk too.
One suggestion though: use spell check before you print your project.

Manitoba is the coolest Canadian province. Mostly because the Winnipeg Jets are my favorite team in NHL '94. I believe they should have a pro lacrosse team to ease the pain.

Winnipeg is supposedly going to be an NLL expansion team in the near future.
They are holding an exhibition game at the MTS Centre on December 9th featuring the Toronto Rock vs. the Minnesota Swarm.
As for the future of lacrosse in Manitoba;
Like other provinces, Manitoba is on the rise. I can't seem to find it right now but does anyone have the results of the PeeWee and Bantam Nationals?

hahaha dont even waste your time writing to the people at the MLA. Right now this province is a piece and i wish i could get out of it. Yea we are having an exhibition game here on the 9th which should be good. But I do not see it expanding out because people here are too cheap. We have some very talented players. The problem for most of them is that they do not have enough competition here to challenge them. So when they go out of province they aren't use to the higher skill level. We have a highschool field league and a "Junior????" league w/e I dont like the people at the MLA so this is my point of view abotu them. Also they say how they are going to do this and that in terms of development but nothing has ever happened or been done.

yah im going to the game....
I was on the bantam team and we placed 5th overall but ended up with 'B' silver when 'Brunswick beat us 6-5.
and the people at MLA rae seriously the laziest hardest to deal with people.I wouldnt try if i were you.Laralie Higginson and Kim Knowles are the people im talking about and if you really wanted info you COULd email them but expect nothing more than BS.Whenever a team does fundraising they have to give all the money to MLA(manitoba lacrosse association) and then they decide, if any, money your team gets.Really just a waste of time to deal with MLA.Its easier to do something and ask for forgiveness than it is to get permission from them.

Well dont really listen to me. I was just in a bad mood and I dont get along with the people from the MLA very well so I felt like bashign them. Lately theyve been doing some things ok but not enough in terms of making this province an actual "contender" in teh national tournaments.

Manitoba , Winnipeg , Simply doesnt have enough interest to make an income-profit from a pro team we need Nine thousand for them to consider us , and our turn out was 3500 when there was a exibition game her

From an adults point of view:
I have grown up in Winnipeg, and have played lacrosse at every level in Winnipeg.
First things first, the talent of kids in the province is no less than that of any other province at younger ages. I have seen Novice to Midget games in Manitoba and Ontario, they are very similar and quite frankly an "all star" team (Midget aged) might be able to compete with the Midget 'A' teams in Ontario. Let me stress that an "all star" team. The teiring system in Winnipeg is helping out with the more talented kids not having to play against new players, but it is well short of actually be 'A' lacrosse on BC or Ontario standards.
The problem itself lies in the executive. The same people have been running the MLA for to long. The growth has far surpassed what people had imagined. New faces are needed at sport manitoba. The in fighting (fighting among board members) is exactly what is holding back the sport in the province, when someone tries to do something good someone else doesn't think it is or it should be done a different way and in the end it just plain doesn't get done.
I played for a Winnipeg All star Midget team, the Junior B provincial team, and have played for the U16 and U19 programs. I have also played out of province in Burlington for the Jr. 'a' chiefs. Those are my credentials... just take my word for it Winnipeg is not a lax power and won't be for many years. As much as I would like the city to get an NLL team, we have to face the music, financially, and fan base wise it ain't happening...
