What's this older shaft made out of? i got it for free yesterday, but don't know what it's made out. it says "custom alloy" on it. i think it's c405.

There were two alloys used. They're similar to an f15 but a little stronger. The only problem is that they were really heavy compared to like the c405s of today so they changed how they made them

oh, okay. that's good. i think it's c405; it's got that same feel of an F22 or another similar shaft, just heavier. i like it, except for the bend it's got in the middle.

You don't need a poll for something that has a factual basis :P In late 97-98 STX began putting the word "Torque" on some of their shafts, it was around the time when better paint jobs were coming on shafts and it was STX's way of keeping up with the "bad boy technology" attitude. The word was used on many of their aluminum shafts, and I don't remember if it was used on some Ultra Alloys as well (CU31). RYU still has the old catalogs I believe, you can ask him.

i have 1 of the old stx torque from my old stick, it's silver and has these cool graphics on them, but it says aluminum, are we talking about the same shaft?
