I have my first field game on sunday and was looking to get some info what i should be doing.Id like to know some good positioning and some general tips, defensive procedures, and the like.I already play 'A' box so i have no issues with stick skills.I might get a few crosschecking calls, cause im used to the x-checking.I dont need help with dodges and fakes,exc3ept maybe an explanation on a roll dodge, face dodge and a wide dodge(i probably already know just dont have those names).Thank you for any tips

Roll Dodge: http://www.e-lacrosse.com/2001/toyota/l11.gif

Face Dodge: http://www.e-lacrosse.com/2003/bayliz/l24hb.gif <--the first real dodge he does before he shoots. It's actually a split dodge, but imagine if he kept his stick in his right hand instead of switching.

Never heard of wide dodge...

If your man is far up on top, don't run straight out to play him, as he isn't a real danger. Sag in a little until you feel he's a threat, than jump him. I'll try to think of some more in a bit.

Always make sure your spread out and keeping the offense spaced. Im not to familiar in box but in field, when you are dodging make sure you always keep your head up to find the open man/cutter.

Dont go for all or nothing checks because most of the time they will get flagged.

Keep the ball in and out of your stick very quickly unless your going for the dodge, even in this case recognize if the dodge isnt there to move the ball on and not slow down the speed of the offense.

There is alot more to say, try asking more specific questions your might have.

I would say that in field there is a lot more space, so slow the ball down and try to work in plays in order to get off a high percentage shot. Make sure that you can make the farther passes, unlike indoor, some of your passes can be 20 yards or farther. As for the defence, man to man, and zone are both used. It is usually all prefrence, whatever you feel more comfortable with. I have seen some very effective zones, as well as some great man to man, so its pretty much up to you

14 is right, the biggest difference between box and field is space. If you are not used to all that space you may go to far out on defense. On offense you want to use the space to spread the defense, making slides and 1 v 1 coverage tougher. Also speed is more important than in box, because of the extra ground to cover.

just chill and dont get cocky

remember that a face dodge only works when done close to the person(i made tht mistake one too many times

really i thought thatit was the other way because of so many fb's in box,i know that my team was a speedy team and everyone ran under a 6.0 on a 40 yard
