Product Review-STX Powerplay

Here it is the first review of a box lacrosse head. The STX Powerplay. Its hip, its happing, its all that.

We will just go over looks because believe it or not it is a part in witch head we get. This head look off the hook. It has “X’s” down the whole sidewall, gradually getting smaller. It has a nasty pinch. I would think you would agree with me when I say this head looks great.

Now for the scoop. I am spoiled because my two main hears are the Warrior Revolution and the Brine Edge the two best scoops in the game, but this head lived up to its expectations. This head is extremely pinched so once you get the ball on the scoop don’t expect it to fall out, but this pinch makes this head better for advance players. Even with the extreme pinch the head is still very easy to catch with.

This head is very stiff. In fact it’s the stiffest I have ever played with. It is extremely durable and I don’t see it breaking for a very long time, but it achieves this while keeping this head fairly light.

Now for you people that like to play with there sticks (no not those sticks save that for later), this head has many stringing holes enough to keep any stringer happy. I wouldn’t recommend pinching it because it is already extremely pinched and I would think it would be a pain to pinch because of the extreme stiffness.

BigDman’s Quickie Facts
· A light head
· Extremely pinched
· Extremely stiff
· Recommend only for advance players

look hroughout the whole thread because there ar emore reviews and compasions down there

Product review—Brine Edge Aero

We all can think of one old person who is in the greatest shape of his Life. Well, in the world of lacrosse the Edge is the old man of stick heads. But like that old guy, it’s in the best shape of its storied life, rejuvenated as the Aero.

I know what your saying, “But aren’t you reviewing the Edge Aero? What is the difference between the Edge and the Edge Aero?” Well I’ll tell you. Not much is except maybe a little weight difference and a slightly different design.

The first thing you notice with any head is how it looks. This head
has a nifty open sidewall look. The teeth where the stringing holes are located, give you the opportunity to get away with an illegal pocket. One of the most determining factors of this head is the edge. The sidewalls and scoop of the head give you the aura of the very name of the head. The scoop is very square and the sidewalls come to a sharp edge.

The next thing is to find out how it plays. Why don’t we start out with the scoop. This is the best scoop I’ve ever used. It sucks up ground balls like a vacuum. The only head that could ever compare to the Edge Aero’s scooping abilities is the Warrior Revolution. It’s squared scoop can get a ball even if the ball takes a bad hop, then the ball is immediately channeled up to its nice pocket. The head is not incredibly pinched, which makes it good for beginners or novices, but still amazingly holds on to the ball. Actually, this is a great head for all players of every skill level. It is not too pinched which makes for easy catching but still you don’t have to worry about attackers stripping the ball from you.

Well, you’re probably thinking, “Why I didn’t say defensive man?” This is because this head is not great for attack. It is more of a middie and defensive head. One thing is cretin, this stick is very durable. The Edge Aero won’t bend or break, until you do so on your opponent’s ribs. The head is kind of heavy, but compared to other heads like it (i.e. the Wizard or the Bonic), it is pretty light.

As I attempt to read your mind some more, you must be thinking, “Man, this guy just loves this head. He hasn’t mentioned any problems yet.” There are some, and one big one for me (a guy who loves to string), is there are not enough stringing holes. But that if that doesn’t matter to you, or you don’t string your own sticks, then it shouldn‘t be a real difficulty. Another problem is the very narrow throat. A narrow throat makes the head hard to pinch. If you do pinch it, make sure to keep that nasty narrow throat legal. Wouldn’t want to get that nice new Edge Aero thrown out of the game, now would we. And as I mentioned before, the weight is a bit much. But, if you are a D-man or Middie, you generally like to have a heavier, more durable stick. I’d advise all attackers to wait for a future installment of Product Reviews, where we’ll be looking at a stick just for you. Until then, enjoy your Aero!

BigDman quickie facts
A bit heavy, but perfect for defensive men.
Nice shape. Creates that pinched feel without the pinch
Other sticks recommended: Warrior Revolution, Wizard or the Bonic
Great for all skill levels

but about the edge aero...after a while, it gets VERY flexible. Both of the people on my team that have them can take the head and bend it forwards, and have the scoop touch the shaft. The thing is crazy for faceoffs though.

haha, my friend had an edge aero, he strung it so bad, he put one TIGHT U shooting string more than halfway down the stick, giving it insane whip. It was so bad it was funny
