What are you boiling it for? Generally you want to boil it for as little as possible as boiling the head weakens it. If you're pinching it then tie it up and only boil it for a few seconds although if you're dying it then it'll need to be in there longer.

yeah i pinched some of my old heads and i just kept it in there for a few seconds so they didnt get mushy and bad. Tie a string through the sidewall holes and tie it to where you want it pinched.
10 minutes? by that time you won't have head!

30 minutes in boling water?
WarriorLax22

yeah. the head is already in when i start the boiling. then, i boil 15 minutes on one side of the head, then put it for 15 minutes on the other. after that, since the head is bigger than the pot, i let the head rest in four other 'dimensions' for two minutes each.

oh i was thinking that you just stuck it in for 30 minutes all at once in the boling water.

I've done it by pouring a huge pot of boiling water over a head in the kitchen sink.
Covers it completely so every part gets the same treatment.
I leave it in for 10 minutes or so, then I cool it down gradually by slowly adding cold water to the mix and leaving it for another ten minutes. Then I add ice cold water for another ten minutes, followed by the freezer for ten more.

i leave it in for about 5-10 minutes, then just take it out and let it sit at room temperature

yeah i usually leave mine in there for about 10 minutes too
then i just put it on the counter or someplace to cool off
if it is only in there for 10 seconds i don't think the pinch would last

you can really put it there for as long as you want but i would go with what everyone else is saying. Anywhere between 5-10 minutes should be good then right under cold tap and it should be great

Does any one know at what temp plastic melts?
I'm thinking that the nice thing about boiling is the temp stays constant and isn't hot enough to melt plastic, making it kind of hard to mess up.

there are other ways to pinch besides boiling...and microwaving...and heating over the oven...and cold bending...i just found one out...blow dryer pinching...i know it sounds wierd but it works and now my AV8 is friggin AMAZING...it would be insane if it had hard mesh...well anyways back to pinching....last night i was using a hair dryer to dry out my pocket...somthing my coach said...and i decided to try and pinch my stick...so i tied a string around it and blow dried it on high heat and high air....i did this about 3 times at regular intervals and then the 3rd time wrapped the stick in a towel and left it over nite....wen i woke up i heated it one more time...once it cooled i took the string off and it only sprang back alittle...and now my AV8 is AMAZING

yeah microwaving = dangerous, i pinched two old heads in the M-Wave and they both got melted, nothing serious except the throat on one

This sounds like a pretty good idea, but how do you keep the boiling water in the sink. A plug or something?

anyone try it in a bath tub? seems like it would cover the whole head? would it work?

well you'd need a lot of water, depending on how big your tub is, and if you're pinching it strung or not

I've put my X2 in the oven for about 5minutes at 100° C because it was too wide. Now it's perfectly thin and still flexible.
