Sig help

Ok so what exactly is a sig. I mean I know what one is but I keep reading threads where people say that they can see people's sigs underneath their posts but I can only see people's sigs inside their profiles. I've also seen a screenshot that shows people's avatars next to their posts but I can only see avatars inside people's profiles. Did I just misunderstand people or is it just my computer. It's not that this bothers me, I was just wondering.

You have to check the show sig thing in your profile, like I can see your sig that says "LOW POCKET PRIDE!"

avatar is the thing that has kyle harrison underneath your username and theres a big P in my avatar, my sig has a bunch of links to rules and stuff along with a quote by teddy roosevelt
