ive had this question in the back of my mind for a while now. how important is scoring goals for a midfielder to get recruited? i have seen and played with many middies, including myself, who are very good but just dont score that many goals. for example, if im an all-around middie who can do everything very well, like faceoffs, feeding, stick skills, D, and transition, but i just dont have a knack for scoring a bunch of goals. does not scoring a lot of goals for a midfielder seriously hurt their chances to be recruited, even if they are still very skilled at other aspects of the game?

well, like you said, if you dont score you need to good at other things. like if you win 70% of your faceoffs and you have 60 assists and 10 goals in your senior season (not saying you need these stats) and im a d1 coach, i might want you because you setup alot of goals, and probably quite a few from the faceoff x.

If you have 60 assists and 10 goals your senior season, wouldnt it be too late because by then all the colleges would have the recruits and hopefully by May-June you'll have applied to colleges?

Not all middies are offensive midfielders. Many college teams, especially ones that don't play a run-and-gun style carry defensive middies and offensive middies as distinctly separate positions. If you're as good as you say you are, it sounds like you just have a problem either shooting or finishing. So sell yourself to college coaches as a FOGO/Defensive midfielder, and emphasize those aspects of your game in your game, etc. If you do this, any potential to be an offensive threat you show is just a bonus.
