Ok, so I live in SW Florida and I aqm going to play for BV highschool next year and I am wondering any college lacrosse teams would even bother looking at this school, they just started lacrosse and the team really sucks. so what do you guys think?

Maybe if you give them a reason to.

i am sorta in the same situation, except our rival in all other sports is really good at lacrosse...but i was wondering how they would even know about a school that has really just created a lax program??..and even worse- is in the south??

I don't think you're going to get a lot of exposure during your season. Work hard, get better, and have your coach reccomend you to a recruiting camp or play on a club team. If you play well at these than you deffinetally have a chance to play college lax.

i was in the same position, my high school team was terrible. get onto a good summer club team that goes to competitive recruiting tournaments, and be proactive and e-mail a school if you are interested in them. 99% of the time, unless you are crazy ridiculous at lacrosse, you will need to contact the coach first, they're all not going to come running to you!

its all about summer...if your from florida on a no name team than your not going to get recruited during spring...so do a lot of summer stuff like camps and travel teams

Not only are you in Florida, but you are also down the SW corner. On top of that all of the teams are currently club and not varsity (although even the varsity clubs are still off the beaten path when it comes to recruiting). Your best bets are the summer activities like camps and travel teams. There are currently no travel teams based out of SW FL. The closest would be either South Florida All Stars, Miami Makos, or the Tampa Fire. Having said that, the only truly established club from Florida at this point is the Florida Possums. Making this team would give you your best chance for travel team exposure from any of the Florida teams. Your location would make any of these difficult in terms of attending their practices. Check their websites for more info and for the next tryouts The Possums will be in May in Orlando, Tampa just completed theirs, and I'm unsure of the other two.

Exactly what he said. You have to go to the coaches, they won't be coming to you. I'm in a similar situation, but I've played on tournament teams and gone to recruiting camps, and it's helped me get in contact with a lot of coaches. Possums would be your best bet, if you try out, I'll see you there.

You will need to spend time marketing yourself. Startup programs will not draw much attention but if you play well and have good grades coaches will look at you if you pursue them.
