great lacrosse, but the only real thing to do in gaffney, SC is party, study and play lax. actually a student who intended to try out for the team just died in an alchol related incident.

no, not at all, its on the opposite side of SC from the beach. its in the top left corner of SC known as the upstate. its probably a 4-5 hour drive to the beach.

Very small school in the middle of nowhere. Lacrosse is their flagship sport. Very low admission requirements, might be the lowest in D2. Nice facilities that were recently redone. That's what I know. If your grades are good there are better places to go.

yeah, this is the death I was talking about in my first post, as Im typing this the news is saying he drank himself to death. that sucks big time, a perfect example why everyone should be careful when partying and everyone should look out for their buddies at parties.

my brother went there last year, he loved the lacrosse aspect but hated the school theres nothing to do if you dont play lax and its like 1200 kids which still isnt very big a lot of their players are canadian and not to say anything against them but the only reason they go there is because they dont have the grades to play d1 and they just got their old coach back from washington and lee who built the program. its also about 45 minutes outside of Charlotte, NC which is a very nice town it may be even closer and yes it is a big party school

From what I heard from someone on the team there, there was a really long night of drinking. On top of other Bad choices.

From what i've heard from my buddy, the only thing to do in your free time for fun is drink. He hates every part of it and is leaving from there after just 1 semester.

well, the campus is a hole, and so is the surrounding area. The lacrosse it top notch however. If you're looking to find a school with a good atmosphere, I wouldn't suggest going there, but PM me if you have any more serious inquiries.

Just for another reference to the recent Limestone incident. Cause of death is alcohol overdose.

i go to USC and a guy that lives in my apt building went to limestone for a year then transferred here.... he claimed there was nothing to do around there and i know for a fact Gaffney is pretty boring. the lacrosse team is good though, but thats about all thats going for the place.

With respect to the recent death of a student at Limestone, the student was on academic scholarship but was scheduled to try out for the team. I also am advised that his death was not entirely due to consumption of alcohol.

On a more positive note, the 2007 team should be exciting to watch. They have one of the best goalies in the nation regardless of Division and were able to get an amazing amount of talent in recruiting.

They were able to land two D-1 prospects, one of which was the premier face-off mid from New York. I would not be surprised if this team makes it to the final four.

With respect to Gaffney, yes it is not the most exciting place in the country, but the campus is beautiful and the class size is relatively small. This could be said for many of the top schools in the nation, including Duke, Hopkins, Princeton and Brown. Not that Limestone is on the same plateau academically, but the campus size and social life are similar.

Are you kidding me!! Limestone has the lowest admission standards of any school in D2 Lacrosse. That's how they attract the players they get, players who couldn't on their academic merits be admitted elsewhere. To even bring up the schools you mentioned in the sentence when speaking of Limestone is a joke and insult to those institiutions. Academically Limestone is the bottom of the barrel!!!

The boy that passed was a lacrosse player and was recruited by the previous coach. Why are you Limestone folks trying to separate the lacrosse program and this poor kid? If he wasn't part of the roster why was the roster pulled form the school's web page, could it have been to remove his name???

Hey I went to school in the hood. It's not that bad. I can now spot druge dealers from 500 feet and the difference between a gun bulge and a knife bulge in someone's jacket. (Both far tougher than they sound).

I can also expertly pilot shopping carts competitively should the need for a cart race occur.

do you prefer plastic carts or metal carts?

shiftylax

The plastic carts are faster, but the metal ones have better handling around turns.

On another note, this thread has clearly degenerated into foollishness about the legitimacy of the limestone program. If you want to crap on a program go on another forum. Any other negative comments will be deleted, you've said your piece.

The roster was for last year's team and it was removed several weeks ago. Secondly, many college campuses are located in [no cursing!] neighborhoods including Penn, Hopkins and Duke.

And I was not comparing academics when I mentioned those Ivy League type institutions.

And no, the kid was not on the team, he was on academic scholarship and was scheduled to try out for the team.
