softening colored mesh

if i water down colored mesh to make it softer will the color fade away?

well the mesh could fade, it wont go totally away, but i mean playing with colored mesh will make it fade aswell. my friends black hard mesh that i was just stretching out and its sorta faded. anyways dont worry bout it, just dont leave it in the water too long.
