hot water and pound the **** out of it. my friend has the same exact pocket in his eclipse (extremely broken in tight moster mesh with 3 straight shooters). you just have to keep beating the **** out of it until you see results.

yea i kno that, but his stringing was sick. it was reg hard mesh strung up with the closed sidewalls and bottom, but was still able to have a huge bag. did he have a special piece of mesh cut for him or is there a secret to getting the mesh so broken in?

it helps if you really break themesh in before you string it into the pocket

doesn't closed sidewall stick mean no real architectural design?
brine zone, stx goalmaster, warrior goalmaster = my idea of closed sidewall stick
brine xtreme, stx eclipse, warrior nemesis = my idea of open sidewall stick

i think hes talking about the stringging like
the closed sidewall=sidewall strings strung tight to the sides
open side wall= http://www.lax.com/shop/item.phtml?page=product_2554_front.phtml

in this case closed sidewall means the stringing. it means the sidewall strings pulls the mesh directly to the plastic. and MC, tillman used monster mesh:

Yeah. And also look on E-Lax and find the shampoo trick, it works really well. You baisicly take shampoo/conditioner and rub it into the mesh, then pound a little, wash it out, and pound some more.

i used to have an open sidewall pocket but it had so much whip i couldnt throw with it at all...so i switched to a closed and it threw much better but it had no pocket depth..so im going to try a qclax pocket cause ive had trouble with my goalie pocket for too long...(no one on my team can string a goalie stick)

in the beginning of last year's season, tj used an eclipse with red hard mesh, but it had the same pocket as the pics above. i want to get my pocket like that too. ive also heard that popping the mesh into the washer with a load of clothes works well too. o yea and by closed sidewall, i meant the pocket, not the head.

to get your pocket like that is tricky...basically what you need to do, is go along the sidewall and tie the mesh down tight...then at the bottom of the mesh where you tie to the bottom of your head, only leave an excess of like 2 or 3 rows of diamonds. now, push the pocket, and with pressure run the back of your hand from the bottom of the head to the top, what you'll see is that the mesh looks like it's being pulled and stretched by something. Those "strech points" are the sidewall string not letting the mesh sit properly, so do remedy it, undo the sidewall string to that point, take it out and then string it again, but skip a diamond. This will take a little while because stretch points can come in other spots, so it takes patience until you get a gradual arc in your stick.

Oh, another great trick, soak your mesh(before stringing it) stretch it out as much as you can, soak it again and stretch, now take shaving cream and rub it into the mesh, you really gotta work it in there, now, stretch it more, rub in a little more, stretch again, soak in water(not warm or hot since that will make it shrink) try to get rid of that lathery feeling, and then, stretch the heck out of it. now string it up, after that pound the living christ out of it, then, put a lacrosse ball in it along with 7-10 lbs on top of the ball and let it sit over night. And then, once again, get it wet and pound it.

That's how i break in my mesh, and it hasn't failed me yet.

^^^Wow, think it'll be enough? lol Just kidding, that sounds like a great way to break in mesh.

What i did was to shorten the open space inbetween the sidewall and the mesh until it feels firmer. You will have a decent pocket as well as good throwing.

im gonna try thekeeper's suggestion, i get back from vacation on monday so i will post my results on monday nite or tuesday.
westside- dont buy a pocket, learn how to string ur own and keep it that way, never trust anyone with your sticks (thats my rule, always string my own, always will.) if you know how to string a shortie, u can string a goalie stick. one suggestion tho, go through 2 holes with the sidewall through the mesh instead of one, u get a better pocket that way. also look at the magic wand pocket on e-lax, if you have problems with your stringin.
btw, string the mesh up tite on top then gradually let the sidewall looser as you aproach the bottom. hope this helps.
