I just got this done about 4 hours ago and it's my first tattoo.
I got this for my Grandma (initials PJB), who passed away this past March after an 8-year battle with breast cancer.
It's pink, but it appears red because my leg is forming some weird goo to help it heal.

Thats really nice of you... Breast Cancer's touch, My grandma passed this March also, after beating breast cancer 4 times, It returned a 5th time and it just destroyed her body, It came back and took over her entire chest withing a week.
Her tumor was estimated at the size of a softball, It's one of the worst cases they've ever seen, and the worst one ever in the Mayo clinic..
Just thought I'd share.
I commend you.

Well, in a symbolic way, my Grandma was one of my foundations and has always been there for me and never farther than a phone call away, so I put it on my calf, which is one of the strongest, biggest muscle I have (ask Choda about his jealousy, they're bigger than my biceps).
I figured I would put it somewhere visible for me to remind me how hard she fought and that when I see that, will remind me to push myself harder than I'm doing already whether it's fighting for a ground ball, running that last 1/4 mile, sprint or winning the face-off, at least lacrosse wise.

i know this sounds kinda bad, but when my grandpa passes away, im planning on getting a tattoo. i go fishing with him almost every summer in canada and it's a blast. so i figured i'll get something to remind me of him. maybe like.. his initials then a fish under it or something hah.

I'm not big on tatoos, but cheers to you for getting one for such a good cause. Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Stclax - there is nothing wrong with that, it's more of how you want to remember someone.
Laxice - Thank ya. I have never been huge on tattoos, but I've wanted one for about 4 years now. I finally got one that means something to me and not something dumb that I'll regret later.

Well I'm glad you didn't get one my size and the location I got it at.
It really didn't hurt too much, it was definetly irritating though. Once it got lower and on the more compact muscle part of my calf it intensified. I'm proud of myself that I didn't wince or whine or anything. It didn't really bother me after the first couple of minutes and I really didn't feel much when she filled it in.

Haha, thank ya sir. The tattoo is actually in the middle of my leg, I just kinda rushed the pic and didn't get the angle that I wanted. Eh, I'll prolly take more pics because it's starting to scab over.

So it's been a week plus a day and I'm waiting on a few more scabs to come off before it's completely healed. Here are some pictures. I swear my leg really isn't as white as the first pic shows.

that's really good, the faster the better. my gma always had to schedule it in advance, and it was always so busy, she'd have to wait at least a couple weeks for her first session.
make sure everyone takes care of everything she normally does, she will be sick to a point you won't believe. but you have to get worse before you can get better.

Live4It - Well, keep in mind, basically my leg was bleeding while they did this (a needle was going in and out of my leg while putting dye in at the samet time). I guess it's similar to when you get like a rugburn and your body makes that natural goo which leads to a scab? I don't know, it's science.
UVA - I'm really glad to hear that they caught it early.
Faceoff - I just wanted to point out that I didn't reply to you as faceitoff, haha.

i know how you feel man, my mom passed away from breast cancer in 1996. that so cool that you got it to pay respect for her. i'm not big on tattoos, but this is one reason that i can see getting one for. i'm thinking of gettin one when i turn 18 that was something like that actually for my mom.

alright, this will probably be my last post, but the last big scab fell off so I figured I'd throw out another picture. Near the top of the ribbon you can see a little speck which is about the size of a pinhead. I'm just waiting for the "PJB" to be done flaking over as well. I think I'm gonna go buy some Tattoo Goo tomorrow as well since i'm gonna head to the shop I got it done at so they can take pics for their album.

Now that it's better healed, the Pink is a lot more noticable than from the first pics and obviously looks better as a result. Again, a very commenable choice in ink.
