You cannot by a real sniper rifle for under $300, thats just the base gun. Upgrades will cost tons more money to get shooting effeictivly. I would not try to be the L33t sniper if you are first getting into airsoft or have not been playin with AEGs less than 2 years.

The hop up units on those suck.
CA just released a "RPK" and I would personally go for that one.
I put RPK in quotes because both SRC and CA got the RPKs wrong. Wrong outer barrel and they did no add the reinforced body like on the real one. Only Russian Mania workshop has a kit with the real body.

Yaa, the hop-up in TSD aks are actually quite nice FYI, better than my Systema Metal one. I know the bodies are incorrect, my family is russian, my uncle used one quite often when he was in the russian military.
EDIT: i forgot to mention how unreliable CA is, mine as well buy a Palco gun.

Maybe if Systema made an AK hop unit, SRC might be better
Nothing beats a TM AK hop unit...not sure if you can stick a TM unit into a SRC though. PGC units are also quite nice.
CA's unrealiable? Maybe in 2003 they were...the 2007 models and 2008 models are quite nice. If you're praising SRC and bashing CA you need to check yo' facts.

I was comparing it to my System M4 hop-up. The reason I bash a CA is because of the non- existent quality control. TSD takes SRC and adds the hop-up's motors etc, and gives you a US contact if something goes wrong, cant beat that.

TSD/SRC's quality control is worse than CA's.
I don't know where you got the idea that CA QC is horrible. CA is imported by Spartan Imports...and you can contact them in the US. Retailers give a warranty on CA guns so the two things you thought TSD/SRC had on CA are, well, same for both.
I have a Systema M4 hop in my Ssystem right now...with the right hop up sleeve (Guarder, Systema, stock TM) it has wonderful range and consistency. I've shot the SRC "RPK" and was not impressed by its range, considering it hit around 350-370 FPS. My TM M14 that is around 390 shot 50 feet further. The externals decent. You cna't compare it to the VFC though. It's about as nice as CA's AK series in terms of externals.

correct, but seeing as airsoftgi has quit stocking CA's (known fact) it leads me to believe, because of their slacking quality control for a high end weapon, that they are not work the 400 you could spend on one.

Some companies have stopped carrying CA because they are not as profitable compared to ACM guns. China is undercutting the market...everyone knew this would happen. I would trust a new CA over any ACM on the makret now...but people want to spend 150, not 300 for the "same thing". Evike also stopped stocking CAs.

But CA G36s have some problems when you upgrade them. The wiring harness sucks donkey nuts so if you go above an 8.4 volt battery you'll need a mosfet or to replace your wiring harness every so often.

The AK-74U is physically smaller, is that what you're talking about?
Or just saying smaller because of it's smaller round?

Maybe he's thinking of the AK 74U? Which is both more compact and has a higher fire rate? The regular AK 74 is not much smaller than the 47, it just has some design differences.

The AK-74 is physically longer than the AK-47.
The cyclic rate is basically the same on both rifles...it's just whether you can control a 47.
If you're talking airsoft terms...it doesn't matter what gun you own, the internals are the only thing that matter for ROF.
O there is a big difference between 5.45 and 7.62

i am building an airsoft field in my backyard. i made it at an angle so that no one will get hit next door or at my house. next is size. it will be for anywhere from 1 on 1 to probobly 5 on 5 at most. should the bunkers be close or far? i am planning on them being about 100-150ft away and theres trees and im gonna put small pices of plywood on the smaller trees where necessary. but my real prob is how many bunkers, and how big? i dont want too many campers or noobs to just sit and hide but dont want no hideing spots
whats a good small gun to hide behind trees but has a good range. like 150-200ft. i was looking for a mp5 but i heard they break easier? and know they have a range limit. that or a rele compact m4 w/ a red dot scope nd a new motor and percision barrel. ooo yea

08-04-2008, 02:26 AM
I'm not going to get involved in building a field on private property since I only play in areas where airsoft is 100% legal.
All full sized AEGs can get the same range- it's just how you build the gearbox and the hop unit. Give me a price range and I'll hook you up with some links online.
