Guys,
I have seen many good players sticks as well as some college players...all of there sticks have amazing hold and so much whip...when i try and throw with them it goes straight into the ground, but they put it in the box from 45 yards out crisply and it doesnt look like their throwing for the sky.....any advice or tricks to use when throwing with a stick that has whip??? any help would be great
... Get used to it? It doesn't look like people are throwing into the ground with whipless sticks.

I've played with A massive amount of Whip, And Loved it, You get use to it, You confinsate for it, And your form changes, You eventually loook like everyone else that is throwing.

i think you take your stick farther back, less quick of a motion, bigger throwing arc

it'll change your game definitely. you'll become a better dodger just because you can swing your stick anywhere throughout the dodge and not lose the ball. but you just have to learn to snap your passes. my advice would be to put a really whippy pocket on an onset head and play wallball a lot. you'll learn how to throw with a whippy pocket, but your dodges and cradling form won't go to crap just because you can't be that lenient with an onset head.

you don't need massive hold to be a good player. if you have good enough stick protection that people can't hit your stick, it doesn't matter how much whip and hold your stick has.

technically there is no such thing as onset its a straight head, like the Warrior Oddysey(sp?) as opposed to heads with an offset such as the Proton
the difference being the on offset heads the pocket sends to form where the offset is and the cradling motion is more felt atleast thats the best way i can explain it IL did an article about stick technology so i suggest you look there for more information
but as for throwing with whip you just figure out how, its hard to explain but your throwing motion should not change that much if at all , if your good enough you should be able to play with any stick whip or no whip

whip'll slow down your passes and force you to take a bigger windup, making it easier for you to get your stick yardsaled when your winding up.
iif you protect your stick and keep your stick under control, it doesn't matter if you can 'swing your stick anywhere throughout the dodge'

With a whippy stick, you really just need to reach a bit further back for a full-power shot or crisp pass. For softer passes, you can sort of push the ball without a proper windup, but coaches probably hate this because it looks like bad form.

And bringing your stick further back to try to throw well with whip means it's more exposed to being checked.

Meh, you're not reaching that much further back, and the windup doesn't really take much longer (we're talking fractions of a second).
For many of us, the extra hold is a bigger benefit than the marginal risk of being checked more easily.

you can put a lot of hold to a stick with no whip...you just have to know how to do it, i hate whip but my stick has a lot of hold and no whip at all. if you make a U shaped shooting string and my the sides tide but the top a little loser, you will have your hold and no whip so you dont have to worry about knowing how to throw without whip

I personally love to put whip in my pockets. My best advice to you is to practice on a wall from far away and aim for a spacific brick. once your throws get within a few bricks of the one you're aiming for consitantly, you've got it!

Holds not the only reason people use whip bud.

I use whip to have an accurate shot... I can't shoot straight with a whipless stick...
you have to snap your wrists as you throw and it will go straight. I honestly haven't noticed a difference in losing the ball with whip vs no whip...

Me either, I just like it for shooting.

raise your elbows when you throw or shoot. a lot of younger players today play with their elbows tucked into their sides, which is exactly what you dont want to do. getting your elbows out and your hand up and away from your body will eliminate most of the whip

wats the best way to go about stringing a stick with some good whipe (but not a ridiculous amount) like wat shooter setup and how loose/tight should those shooters be? (maybe even sidewall factor?)

I would say string a low pocket with a huge chanell. pull the top part of the mesh really tight and then bag out the lower half. then add some semi-tight shooters.
or use lower diamond meshes. they tend to have some good whip in them.

i found stringing a love pocket gives me enough hold and whip, but isnt whippy enough to throw everything down.
