Hey guys, a while back I watched a documentary of a guy who went up to a mountain out West with a few tools and supplies and lived self sustaining for years and years. I saw it on local television like PBS or NJN. It was a really awesome documentary, and I am trying to find a copy of it, but I can't remember the name of the guy who made it, or what the mountain was, or what tv station it was. If anyone has seen this, or knows about the foundation for it, it would be great. Thanks

I've seen a few episodes of a series on PBS about this guy who moves out into what must be the Canadian wilderness. The series I've seen was not filmed on a mountain, but remote Quebec, or something like that. He builds his own cabin, makes his own canoe, etc. It appears to have been filmed on 16 mm stock, but I'm not sure. This guy does everything. I don't know his name or the name of the series.

*Waits for the inevitable Brokeback Mountain joke*

*Can't believe he just did the asterisk thingy which means he just did whatever he said that was inside the two asterisks*

*Is going to bed.*

You might be talking about Reinhold Messner. Hes sort of the Elvis of mountaineering. Hes climbed Everest alone and without oxygen tanks. Look into him would be suggestion. I dont know if the documentary is about him, but it sounds like it could be.

If you liked that mountain documentary, watch Grizzly Man. Crazy stuff.

I think I saw this on PBS. It was a guy in Alaska who built all his own stuff, it was pretty old.
