It may not be pro teams or true box but the fact its a lacrosse game before every home game is awsome and is helping spread the word.

December 22, 2006 - Wheeling, WV - The Ohio Valley Greyhounds of United Indoor Football have formed a partnership with Wheeling Jesuit University and the Wheeling Lacrosse Association to bring college and high school lacrosse matches before the start of Greyhounds 2007 home games. The lacrosse games will start at 4 p.m. and the Greyhounds will kick off at 7 p.m. A ticket entitles fans to attend both events.

Greyhounds owner, Lou Stein, says it’s a win for everybody. “I think it’s exciting for the Greyhounds fans, it’s exciting for the fans and it’s exciting for the city of Wheeling,” Stein said.

The Wheeling News-Register says Stein sees many similarities between the two sports and that was a major selling point for his latest venture. “Lacrosse is the fastest-growing sport in the country today,” Stein said. “Like indoor football, it is a phenomenal spectator sport. The speed, skill, strength and toughness make this sport the fastest game on two feet,” he stated.

In the meantime, Stein’s Greyhounds will be under new direction this coming season. He will introduce a new coach Jan. 3, 2007 at a news conference. The Greyhounds will also announce their players signings that day. Stein feels the eight-10 signings to date will form the nucleus of the team. “I’m expecting big things from that and my goal is to bring the national championship back to Wheeling, WV. It will be great to do that and it’s about due,” Stein said.

Ohio Valley opens its UIF season at home against the Lexington Horsemen Mar. 24, 2007. The 7 p.m. kick off time this season is a half-hour earlier than last season.

The 2007 UIF season begins Mar. 23, 2007. The full schedule is available online at unitedindoorfootball.com.
