has anyone ever tried this? i want to buy a spool of elastic string and string it up, im sure it would have little to no rebound.

Thats a really good idea. If it works, post up with the details, exactly what kind of elastic string, how well it works with hard, soft mesh, etc.

I was thinking about using rubber bands but tthat would probably work much better
Nah, I think rubber bands wouldn't be as durable as elastic..
Elastic sounds like a plan, go for it, then let us know :clap

there is a fabric store called britex in the city, and they carry it. ill have to decide what grade of string to buy, but once i do, ill post pics and a review and info on the elastic pocket.

just make sure you got a back up, if someone rips a shot and one of the elastics snaps, it'd be nice to still be able to play
sounds wicked though, gd lk

Yeah, but you didn't take action like MClothier is going to do.

to make it more durable, and "cool" string freshmesh along the sides then crossover to reg hard mesh in center to keep grip.

I don't know how effective this would be in controlling rebounds... The thing about elastic is that, after it stretches, it tends to snap back. Pretty bizzare, huh? And besides, good luck throwing with it.

my thoughts exactly, but its a really great idea. Maybe not something as elastic as rubber bands but something that gives a little bit? Isnt that the concept behind the no rebound pocket?
I used one and basically the two rows of sidewalls/coils "cushion" the ball as it comes in

i know im not a goalie but ive used somthing like this as a shooting string actually, i was at the dollar store shopping for an 80s party...anyway they have these shoe laces that are like elastic shoe laces...they are curly...some of u might be too young to remember these but anyway they usually come in pretty crazy colors anyway, if u wanted to try these out it might a cheaper way to go...a buck for 2 laces and im pretty sure one lace would be enough for a sidewall

as i said in the freshmesh thread, it has alot of give supposedly, but lacks grip. so make a pocket of freshmesh but then switch to reg mesh in the center to keep the grip.

i was thinking more along the line of bungie cord, i bought some a little bigger than sidewall lace and its really strong, i was all into it for a day and then i decided i didnt want to screw up my current string job
