Yes, as long as you hit them in the legal spot.

Perfectly legal as long as it's a legal check in general, ie not to the head or a trip

Run at the kid, while screaming like a maniac, and pretend you paddling a kayak. I'd love to see it.

Dukelax, you don't seem to know a ton about kayak checks. It's simply throwing the butt end of your stick at the stick of the attacker, not a wrap check. A wrap always comes from behind, and is done with the head of the stick.

Actually....you both wrong on the kayak. Not every check with the butt end is a kayak, there are several diff types of checks with the butt end. A kayak isn't necessarily a wrap check although it is similar. It is generally a term used when you use ur stick to make a check with the butt end and it looks like your rowing a boat. Hard to explain in words but its the way you throw the check that makes it a kayak.

yea thats wat im saying like ur rowing, u wrap it around the attack dude. i dunno where u get the idea that u throw at their stick, its hard to explain but raine ur wrong. i just think it looks like a wrap so i described it liek that, im sorry that i dont know every detail about every check raine, haha

A kayak check is where you are running side by side with the attackman. You slide both hands to the throat of your stick, and break your wrists. Bringing the butt end around hard.

A wrap check is not always done from behind. You can come from the side. My favorite time to do it is when I have my man between me and the sideline. I'll throw my wrap check b/c he has no where to go except out of bounds or into me.

You don't seem to know a lot about anything, Dukelax. Sorry I was too general on the kayak. Without reading blckout's response fully, here is the kayak: Make a slap/poke/whatever check with the face of the head. Throw the butt end around, sliding your hands down towards the head of the stick, or keep them in place if you are lazy. Push with your top arm while pulling with the bottom arm. BING! Kayak check!

Ice Pick: Poke check with butt end, basically

Wrap Check: Usually performed from behind, where a slacker/slow/late midfielder, usually, runs from behind, and usually one handed, throws the head of his stick at the stick of his opponent's stick.

Actually raine, an ice pick is over the head of your attack man into there stick, with the butt end.

a ding dong, now there's a sweet check. my cuz pulled them off in college all the time. i think it's where your opponent's side is towards you and you're running alongside. what you do is go for a poke, then pull your stick up and almost over the opponent's head. there's the ding. here's the tricky part, most attackmen will see that you're "going" for a stick check form behind, so they'll pull they're stick in front of them. when you see this, snap your wrists/elbows and pull your stick down hard in front of your opponent and knock the hell out of his stick/arm/wrist/hand. there's the dong.

Ding Dong: you fake an over the head check, then when the attacker brings his stick in front of him you bring the stick down hard on to his stick.

Kayak: Generally is used after a poke check. Both hands are slided up to the throat of the stick, then the attacker is hit with the end of the shaft. Basiclly, a slap check with your hands at the opposite end.

Rusty Gate: You let the attacker beat you to a point, then, out of nowhere you swing the stick behin your head hitting him and dislodging the ball.

There are variations of all these checks, for instence with the Rusty Gate, I like to keep my stick in front of me but whip it from point A to B.

stick is brought from my left hitting the attack on my rigth. stick is brought over in a semi circle, above my head, not acrosse my body.

That is a great picture an ice pick. It looks like that boy with the frying pan is about to be harvested by the grim reaper!!!

It's like saying, "Say hello to my little friend!!"

actually the rusty gate is where you are in front of the attacker and pester him enough to go one-handed, then allow him to go around you and swing the stick arund and nail his stick...or at least thats one version of it.
