Has anybody looked at the gait website lately? because they have the identity helmet on their, but there are two versions; one is the space helmet we all know about, but the other one has a different facemask more reminiscent of a viking/cpx.

has anybody else noticed this?

i searched around and didnt see any mention of it...

If i didn't have such a big noggin i would have tried a gait helmet.
And yeah, i'm one of those weird dudes that likes the looks of it.

I tried it on at sports Authority yesterday, but i couldn't figure out how to get it on my head. It was a pain to expand, and the width was all screwy. I am definately not getting one of these.

The one with the chrome-type different-looking facemask is like $40 more.

Yeah the helmet is really out of the question for me.
I have a riddell large coming from navyboy28, i'm sick of searching for a model that doesn't pinch my brains right out of my ears.

Yeah, you have to have two people just to adjust it. Good idea, but it is poorly executed IMO. The chin is also removable, which I thought was wierd. Looks like I'll be getting a CPX

Chin is problay removable to make it look more like box lacrosse helmet.

yea, gait i dont think is going to get very far with those helmets. Plus Cascade seems so deeply rooted in the sport i dont know if I'd even attempt trying to make helmets with them around.

i saw one at sports authority as well. it was really small, like most helmets there are, but it wouldnt fit on my 10 year old brothers, mine, or my sisters heads. im guessing it will run small.

goalie if it didn't fit your entire family i would probably assume it's too small...

i like the looks of it, and i'd probably get it. but untill i battle test it the cpx and my viking are the ones i trust when it hits the fan. i don't like how the chin like.... dosn't really cover much of the neck. being a passionet player (defensemen) i don't want to step into a shot without something protecting something.

Im pretty sure this is more of a boxla helmet. Looks like it anyways.

I was at the local lax store and it is not as complex as it seems. The concept is really cool I think. Fit well enough once I figured out how to expand it to fit my dome.

Bumping this thread. I was looking at an IDH helmet at a store this week, and actually liked what I saw (this is the more conventional and less retarded looking version, see gait's website)

It's adjustable size, seems really solid, and has lots of ventilation. One nice feature is that the peak is not tied to the facemask, and both it and chin piece are fully removable*. Sightlines are good.

Best part is, they're selling them for $139 (Canadian), which is a helluva lot lower than any decent lacrosse helmet usually sells for here.

Anyone actually use one of these? I'd love some feedback.

(Kids - I'm only interested in opinions on function, not looks......it ain't a frigging fashion show out there)

*Removable peak and chin piece is so you can swap colours, but seeing as I mostly play inside, I don't need my upper peripheral vision clogged with a peak so would be looking to take this off and leave it off. As long as the bottom of the wire is at my chin or below, the plastic chin piece probably comes off as well....no need to sacrifice clear sightlines for minimal if any protection.

I've never seen one or held one, but i'd say give it a shot.
P.s. the IDH is the box version of the helmet!

But the IDH is right there next to the IDX on both the box and field helmets pages.

And if it was meant for box, why would they give you a peak?
