Take the US lightly at any sport and it is your peril. If I remember correctly, there was plenty of ribbing before the first Heritage Cup and look how easily they absolutely crushed Canada.

Just saw that video.....

My brother is #33, he was on the last USA team....many of those guys don't have much, if any box experience. That will be the trick is to get them up to speed. I don't believe any of the NLL guys were at this tryout so that will take the level up as well.

Give us a chance, at least we are playing....

You mean Johnny M and Les B's idea to load Team Canada with essentially nothing but offensive players was a bad idea? :whyme:

I'd love to watch that game again. As I remember, both teams looked like dogcrap for most of the first period, and then USA all of a sudden exploded on an 8-0 run. Goals mostly came on unbalanced transition plays.

That's what you get when you decide you've won the game before it's played.

"Goals mostly came on unbalanced transition plays."

Goals mostly came on outside bombs on Watson... if I remember correctly. LOL - I know he wasn't the goat, I just remember some bombs beating him and realizing for the first time that he wasn't so hot on the outside...

"That's what you get when you decide you've won the game before it's played."

That reminds me of the Rock taunts in the papers and on TV about all those the "Americans" on the Wings in 2001... :dummy:

Goaltending will be a problem for the US for many years.

They were lucky to have Maetche who played box in Canada growing up but now he's getting a little old (46). There's not much box goalie development in the US except for in leagues like the BILL which are hard to come by. There's a reason why every teams' starter is Canadian.

Goals mostly came on outside bombs on Watson... if I remember correctly. :

True, but I didn't necessarily mean all on fast breaks and 1v1 chances. I seem to remember the US guys finding lots of space to set up that outside shooter because they had hustled up floor and found 4 on 3s and 5 on 4s and the like.

When watching that, I felt like I was watching a Master box game. I think their defence will have to improve alot too, as most in that video have no idea what true box lacrosse is.

Point taken...I am one of the few Americans who does know what you mean, BUT...given that the WILC are playing by NLL rules, the off-ball play of the Canadians may lead to a lot of powerplays for the Americans.

Hopefully it will be a Candian dominated event for awhile and that will get more Americans to play box. Much the same way the American dominance got the Candians to start picking up field.

We also don't have the hockey-lacrosse connection that you all do. Most of our lacrosse players have football, soccer connections. Hockey is very much a fringe sport at the amatuer level here in thge USA, especially the further south you go....

If you look at the US Box Championships video on e-lacrosse, thats some of the better American players....Greenhalgh is in there as well...
