What are your predictions? I couldn't tell you at this point.
7-7 at this point. Looks like it might be a wild game.

Bad missed holding call on OSU on that kickoff return. #1 on the Gators was the only guy with a chance, and he was pulled back by his shoulder pads enough to make a difference. Big Ten refs?

Questionable call. His knee was obviously down, but I don't think they could prove that the ball wasn't crossing the plane at the same time. There wasn't a clear-cut video replay, therefore, play stands.

Agreed, but it makes up for the non-holding call on the kickoff return.

I'm not biased either way, but if you know football and how replays work, they have to have indisputable evidence to overturn a play. Just like someone is innocent until proven guilty, you have to prove without a doubt that the play was called wrong on the field, and I guess they could not. I'm sure OSU fans see it differently, but that missed holding call also gave them a TD.

Well as someone who has been an Ohio State fan since basically the day I was born I am basically stunned right now.

This could be the worst performance in Ohio State football history. Troy Smith played like a backup D2 quarterback, Ginn missed the whole game, and Tressel had some very poor play calling.

Im not really sure what to say right now except congrats to Florida. We got effed up.

like 85 yards of offense, when they average over 400. That stat is simply mind boggling

I'm just amazed and shocked how the #1 team in the nation (before tonight, of course) mustered 35 yards in the air. 35 yards.

Troy who?

This just showed how screwed up the BCS is. Troy Smith exhibited tonight that the heisman trophy deserves to be in the hands of a more worthy, possibly less recongnized, player. Troy smith looked like an idiot. He looked just like Notre Dame's QB when he is put in a tough situation. HE SUCKED. Florida has possibly created one of the biggest upsets of the year.

lol about the blue and orange, i want them to be my team colors now...haha.

the fiesta bowl was more exciting to watch though. it was a good game, not a blowout.

To all the people who are throwing out the "OSU is overrated" and "Troy Smith should have never won the Heisman" be quiet.

Face it, this was not the same Ohio State team we saw fifty days ago. This was also not the same Florida team we saw all season long.

The fifty day layoff for OSU was too much. I did not think it would matter but it clearly did. Clearly. Ohio State was flat, and everyone was a step slower then they were during the regular season. Florida was clearly the better team today...I do not doubt that, but Ohio State was clearly deserving of there shot to be there.

In the end Florida wanted it more..Ohio State came out flat and Troy Smith played the worst game of his career easily. This one game does not determine he wasnt deserving a of a Heisman..before this game he was nickname "Mr Big game" for his role in winning BCS and Rival games against Michigan..which were the best games of his career by far.

i couldnt agree with you more. florida did not beat ohio state, ohio state beat themselves. smith played easily the worst game of his career and the whole buckeye defense was a little slow. florida picked it up after the ginn td and just kept on rolling. it does go with out sayin that im am still extremely upset that ohio state lost...you guys shoulda seen me last night

state lost. we won. ginn went out. boo hoo. would it have been different if he was still in? well after that first kickoff you can figure that one out. but the D went all out all nite and i think everett's helmetless takedown defined the evening. that, and tebow's jab step then dump pass to bubba caldwell was too dirty. you all should have seen gainesville last nite easily the best nite of my life. there were ppl swinging from lightpoles and many other things which i would probably get in trouble for discussing on this forum.

I don't know how you beat yourself by 27 points? That just showed that the SEC is ahead of the Big Ten. Florida just came out and gave everything while OSU thought that they had the game in the bag before it started. Troy Smith collapsed in this game maybe it was the fifty days. He made poor decisions. Was being chased all night, it was just not Troy's night.

Meanwhile the Florida qbS did great, Leak was accurate the whole night a couple of his incompletions were throw aways. Tebow is just a hoss. Did anyone else see him truck Laurinitis (SP)? Throws and runs for a TD, IMO they should throw with him more or run somewhere except up the middle, but I guess Tebow just likes getting hit?
Too bad that Boise State didn't get a chance! That would have been fun to watch.

Must suck to be a Buckeye fan right about now. I've been following sports actively for about 10 years or so, MLB, NFL, NCAA, and I have NEVER seen a team with this much hype, a #1 team, FAIL that bad. They got dismantled. 41 - 7 after the opening kickoff. They got trashed, owned, crushed. Buckeye fans - this will go down in history, in lore, as one of the biggest chokes ever.

Troy Smith is still a Heisman winner, but don't you think this takes away from that? Worst game of his career on the biggest stage. 35 yards passing - Ginn Jr. or not. You can't expect the #1 team in the nation to rely on one man. Every buckeye fan said "the layoff (51 days) won't make a difference" and now thats exactly the culprit. Too much time off? Too much time to prepare? To say OSU came out flat is an understatement, I dont think they came out at all. You have close to 2 months to look at Florida, and the Sweater Vest gets rocked.

Troy Smith played horribly, but i would put much more of the blame on the O-line, Smith never really had a chance to do anything.

Eclipse

This is what happens:

Ted Ginn gets hurt its pretty obvious who T smith is going to throw the ball too. As much as you guys want to say one man wasnt going to get us 30 points your right, but when you eliminate one of the top 2 receivers then its pretty obvious where the ball is going to be thrown. On top of that Ohio States O line couldnt keep up with the speed of Florida's Line. All though everyone talks about the speed of the SEC I think it has alot to do with taking 50 days off and practicing against the 2nd string.

You cant practice against 2nd string for over a month and expect to be able to keep up with the fastest conference in college football.

Being a huge, if not biggest gator fan in My area and then some, I can tell you, OSU just couldn't stop the short Meyer screens, and power running. Their offense sucked somethin' awful the whole game, they've never been up against any defense like ours. But #1 reason we won, Motivation from everyone saying 'We can't do it' and the pressure on OSU and Troy Smith to defend the heisman and live up to their 12-0 season. Go Gators!

After watching, here's what I have to say:

When Florida had the ball:

Florida would spread out OSU, and OSU would come out in a loose zone coverage, as if they were afraid to get beat deep. But, Chris Leak is a marginal QB at best. He can't throw accurately past 20 yards, and didn't throw a single pass past 15. OSU's coverage left the swing play, option, quick slant, drag, and button hook open all day. Leak would dump it off to an underneath reciever, and the reciever would run for 5 yards before an OSU player got to him. He never looked deep, and if no one was open underneath, he would throw the ball 5 rows into the stands.

When OSU had the ball:

OSU tried to spread Florida out, but Florida's DB's played an aggressive man coverage. They would line up right in the receiver's face, and the receivers couldn't create separation. No one was open for Smith, and then OSU's offensive line would let a defender through, Smith would scramble, and get sacked. OSU's O-line played sub-par, the recievers were never open, and the lack of Ted Ginn didn't help matters. The running game was terrible too. If you can't make 1 yard in two plays, then you don't deserve to win games. Florida's defense played great, and OSU's offense never got in rhythm.

And WTF is up with those Pac-10 refs? They are absolutely terrible, and they blew 2 calls for Florida on the same drive. I saw so many no-calls in favor of both teams, along with several makeup calls. They should have been fired on the spot, it was that bad. The Pac-10 sucks.
