so for my government class, we had to get into groups and create an interest group. we decided to do animals, but we had to narrow it down and we chose polar bears. so we called ourselves the PPPB, or the People for the Protection of Polar Bears. Now, we need to get a lot of signatures for a petition. this is not to get a grade, the project is over, but if we can get enough signatures, we can take it to a representative and then go to washington and possibly become recognized as an actual interest group, which would be pretty sweet for three high school kids to do. so if you would go to www.freewebs.com/pappb, that would be awesome. just click on the sign the petition link on the left side and enter your name. thanks a lot in advance.

mods, i didnt think that this would be considered spam or anything considering that its for a good cause and it is NOT in any way helping me get a better grade or anything.

Ok, just so you know... Internet based petitions accomplish absolutly noththing.

Im an animal rights activist, and i've done my fair share.. and plan on doing more. And if you want to make a difference, it takes action.

Being passive and getting some people to sign a paper, especialy online, where it means even less. Will accomplish nothing.

Get out into the streets, with information *pampletes work wonders* and educate your local population. Or raise money for a cause which will help the polar bears.

But something as easy as signing a internet petition will accomplish absolutly nothing. Its a waste of time.

I hafta agree with Mav...I am reminded of a local politician who, himself, sat outside malls and such, collected 12,000 signatures on his petition to our city council, presented the document, and was told "thanks." ...and that was it, absolutely no action was taken by the council, for or against, they flatly ignored it.

I am afraid in todays technological world, action and money, or the promise of action and money as benefits, are the things that persuade people in their decisions. Information runs a distant third...by their nature, most petitions deliver none of the three.

Good luck, I think your cause is a good one.

Vegans dont use money, its tested on animals.

Well tested on fat, rich, white, male, old, bankers and Politicians in NYC and Washington DC, but they're animals too, right?

Great response. I usually don't find your posts as funny as intended, but this one was. :chuckle:

And for the record, the paper used to make the money is taken from trees that were previously animals homes thus destroying their habitat and killing many including causing the extinction of several species of rodents, insects, and hillbillys.
Money (atleast in the states) is made from cloth actually. Cotton :-p completely vegan.

See you would be right in that theory, but money isn't made of paper. Money is a cotton and linen mixture.

not to un-hijack the thread or anything, but okay, I just logged on and signed the petition...I hope it helps...my hockey teams have been the Polar Bears since '98, and as a result we have learned alot about the vanishing habitat, poaching, and so on...where do you thik I got my screen name from?

As I said above, good luck, I hope this works toward a positive goal.
