What are some of the best lacrosse camp experiences you've had and at which camps (lacrosse development). I'm thinking about going to a couple over the summer. REally good camps that really allow you to get much better. Maybe a little exposure (good to have some but not nessicary).

By the way is it better to go to a college camp (princeton lacrosse camp or an independent camp (extreme lacrosse camp).

Thank alot

(Mods sorry if you have to move this Idk where to put it)

The best camp I went to was No Limit in Franklin Mass. The mood there was just amazing.

The counselors really wanted to make everyone at the camp better, but in a fun way, not a demoralizing way. There were kids who werent as good as everyone, but the camp let them work at the pace they wanted. All the counselors were real cool guys as well who def knew there stuff.

On top of all that the camp just wanted to make it fun for everyone. There was a ton of free giveaways, the counselors did a shooting demo, they had a counselor game we watched, there was a lot of cool mini games. I mean overall it was just a damn good time.

just go to a recruiting camp and get exposure. you might be looking for a d3 school but maybe an d1 coach was impressed, you never know. most recruting camps have coaches from all divisions.

i heard that the navy camp was tough and you have to run to the fields that are about (not sure, but about) 2 miles away everyday.

The Navy camps are excellent, especially the extended position camp. The fields are 1 mile from the dorms, but when was running ever a bad thing for a lax player (even for a goalie)?

As a coach I find comments about the Navy camp interesting. My son went to the Navy camp, and yes must go to the position or extended camp to get the best experience. Good training. Those comments above with the complaints about the running, you would not play for my team if you are afraid of running. In fact the greatest adjustment of a HS player to college is the running and effort. Oh yes, our goalie is our best conditioned athlete.

In addition to the Navy camp, heard good things about position training at the Attack/Defense camp at Washington College, the Players Choice Camps in Mass. If you are not known enough for a recruiting camp, sure in your rising senior year try a college camp you like. Heard great things about Cornell, Hobart, Princeton, Catholic. Point is where are you in your development. Basic skills? Looking to enhance a specialty (shooting, goalie, etc), or looking to get noticed? Last thing I would look for unless a recruiting camp is scrimmages. That is for fun, not for the work. Except for recruiting camp, the more emphasis on scrimmages, the less I would recommend it.

I'm kind of looking for a camp (more fun and developmental than getting noticed) at a college. I was wondering if any face-off guys had found one that is good. I don't necessarily want just face-off camp, but one that has some good specialized along with a fun experience. Anyone know of any?

My son LOVES UVA!!!! He's been to a number of them but
UVA is the only one he liked enough to return.....4x now.
I've heard Hopkins is as good.
If there is a school you are interrested in, go to their camp.
That way the coaches can work with you, get to know you,
see you in action. Just a thought

The UVA "high school" camp which actually occurs at UVA and uses UVA dorms is probably fine, but watch out for the younger camp (9-14), which Starsia calls "Graves Mountain Camp," but is actually held on Graves Mountain property for the fields, using migrant worker cabins from an adjacent apple processing plant -- no kidding. It's like something out of the Grapes of Wrath, with disgusting conditions and horrible food. This is a money maker, with actual coach interaction being thin. My son learned nothing and was grouped with the top players, many of whom were either much younger or much smaller, so he was more worried about hurting someone.

Yes, the high school camp. In the dorms, on UVA fields, UVA coaches &
players as well as other D1 coaches & players. One year my son had
Coach Pressler & 2 UVA players head his group. It's been great. he's learned
a lot and made connections which is what most of these kids seem to want.

I have NEVER heard anything good about his camps.
Check reviews at different sites. Matter of fact some
stuff was pretty harsh. I'd beware until I found the facts.

Don't go to millon's camp. I went last year and it was a waste of money. Only fun I had was hanging out with buddies and our consular (sp).

Millon left our camp halfway to go on business trip and kyle dixon is a huge (insert term), he took stuff from the raffle LOL! He didn't even have a shooting demo ;(

The most fun and worthwhile camps have been the Powell Brothers' camp with Casey, Mikey and Ryan plus the Hartford coach, Starsia's UVA Graves Mt. Lodge's rustic camp and on-campus camps, former University of Vermont coach Steve Beville's camp (the coach later moved to SUNY Cortland) held at Emory University, NAVY onsite, and Johns Hopkins' traveling camp...
