So I got some B&N/Borders giftcards for Christmas and was looking to pick some books by Tom Clancy, because I heard they were good. I was wondering if they were in a series where I would have to read them in order. If not which should I get. Also are there any other good reads in the action/adventure/thriller genre I might like. And, on a side note I just finished Fight Club and it was great.

Read them in order, you will appreciate them so much more. By them I mean the books that feature Jack Ryan.
Red Storm Rising is also excellent.
Ask any qyuestions you want of me.

I agree, if you're going to delve into the Ryanverse, try and do it in order (at least chronologically so you can slip Red Rabbit in earlier).
My favorite: Without Remorse, because John Clark rocks.
Teeth of the Tiger I could not put down either.
and if you need something else along the lines of adventure and you find Clancy isn't enough, read Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels (or the Kurt Austin novels and the newer and equally hard to put down Oregon Files) and you can never ever go wrong with Ludlum.

Yeah, read them in order. You'll want to start with Patriot Games and The Hunt for Red October, then work your way down the storyline. Excellent books, i highly recommend them. Also, if you dont want to dive right in to the Jack Ryan story yet, read Red Storm Rising. It's simply excellent.

Without Remorse is great, but The Hunt For The Red October is by far his best book in the Ryanverse. Also like The Cardinal of the Kremlin very much.

Start with The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Cardinal of the Kremlin, and work your way up. His later, reallllly long books were also excellent.
And Red Storm Rising is definitely one of his best.
